Positive Changes!
Positive Changes!
Hi all-
I just posted this in the Class of September thread, but thought I'd throw it out there to the general audience as well.
I've seen the following good things occur since I stopped drinking:
-Don't get me wrong, I've been a cranky exhausted mess at times since quitting as well, but writing down the advantages really helps me realize how much better not living with alcohol is(and can continue to be.)
Anyone else have things to add? I'm really early into the sober journey so I'm hopeful for better things ahead...
I just posted this in the Class of September thread, but thought I'd throw it out there to the general audience as well.
I've seen the following good things occur since I stopped drinking:
- Much better sleep
- Anxiety dialed down big time(this is HUGE for me, I was always an anxious mess, even before I started drinking, but it's much more manageable now)
- Lower blood pressure
- Clearer vision
- Better looking skin
- Better mental clarity
- Ability to laugh at silly things(weird, but I was so obsessed with drinking, I was so serious all the time)
- A bit calmer overall
-Don't get me wrong, I've been a cranky exhausted mess at times since quitting as well, but writing down the advantages really helps me realize how much better not living with alcohol is(and can continue to be.)

Hey again samwitch. I hope you don't feel you can't come back just because you posted drinking and had a bit of a strop. Obviously deeper things are bothering you than a post on a forum.
Although I am all for keeping the positive in mind, at the front of your mind even.
I don't think it's helpful to see negative stuff connected to stopping drinking as nothing.
It's usually the negative aspects to stopping that leads us back to it (I think, barely, but I do think).
So if you have had things you have been struggling with, as you mentioned in you OP this is the best place to air them. I have found there are a ton of people on her with a ton of experience having gone through it and out of the other side.
I was posting here drinking on and off until the beginning of this week. What a train wreck! But despite wanting to hide forever, out of shame, I found coming back and people helping me through these hard last 6 days has helped see me through 🤍

PS and while newcomers serves its purpose and a good one. I think there's a lot to be said for asking for help/support in the main forum where there are a lot of people had more sober time life and already been and done the early days 🤍

I am always looking for a reason to have a drink. Now I am choosing not to look at thing in that perspective. I have to keep my mind and body in a positive state. No drinking! every minute, hour, day, week..... Just keep on keeping on
Thanks for everyone who responded. Drinking makes me a horrible person, and yes I feel like a petulant toddler wrote some of my posts on here, although not the first one, obviously.
I'm back to being sober and will continue to be sober, what a relief to get out of the alcohol trap(Allen Carr, very helpful book.)
thanks again to all who took the time to post.

Been there. Drink has that effect unfortunately. I’d fly off the handle at the slightest thing and stay mad for hours. I’m not going to say thats 100% cured but 75% so I’m happy with that. I’ve never seen a Study on drinking causing negativity, but it’s definitely the case.
Keep posting, Sam 🙂
