have you ever tried to quit before? I think even with scarring you can be okay and have quality of life providing you stop......

Welcome Donna

I know it must be scary. I hope your results will be better than you fear.
The best thing any of us can do for ourselves and our livers is to stop drinking for good.

You’ll find a lot of support here to help

Hi Donna. Put all that madness behind you. Your liver and the other parts of your mind and body damaged by alcohol have great capacity to heal. But only if you stop drinking and call that chapter in your life done.

I'm glad you are getting scene by a doc because a real doc is SO much better than Dr. Google.

Good luck and welcome to SR.

Welcome Donna. How long have you been drinking? The liver can re-generate in most cases but we have to quit.

You will find lots of support here.

Welcome Donna! I hope you will stick around. There is a lot of good sobriety around here, with plenty of tell you how they have gotten it. Feel free to ask any many questions as you qould like. You don't have to do this alone

Welcome to SR, you'll find great help here. The liver is a tough organ and can take a lot of punishment. Stopping drinking will give you a
great chance at it healing itself. Best of luck.

We're glad to have you with us, donna. I'm sorry you're going through a frightening time. You can get free & begin to recover from the alcohol abuse.

Thanks to all of the replies. It's going to take a lot of strength to stop the excessive drinking I've done for many years. I know I can do it.

There are ways to help your fatty liver. Number one is quit booze.

Exercise, healthy low fat diet and lose weight if you need to.

Milk thistle, vitamin E and brewed black coffee is what my liver doc told me. Also fresh lemon juice in water.

This will take time. They told me it would be awhile to see improvement.

congratulations, Donna....

This 'wake up call' is a gift.

You can do this.

You can transcend the struggles and the detriment that is alcohol and you will find that sobriety will open up to you a world you never thought possible.

I'm glad you're here.

Fantastic!!! The first day is the hardest. Great job, Donna.

Please read other threads in this section and you will see strategies for remaining sober.

We also have a small group class each month, where you will get more support and have some fun too. I highly suggest it and it worked for me:
