60 Days, Checking In

Greetings all,

I hope you are well. I wanted to check in and let the group know that today is 60 days going strong without alcohol. I'm not really celebrating, because it is just another day of the rest of my life, a better day, a better life.

I'm feeling a lot better, the headaches have diminished quite a bit. I still have some mood swings and my sleep is still off. The biggest negative physical thing is the fatigue, which may or may not get better according to the Doc. I am hopeful it will as my body heals and I know of stories of people that have healed miraculously over the course of 2 years. I can honestly say that I don't think about drinking all that much, it comes to mind now and then, but I know that I have done enough damage to my body, my relationships, my mind, and my life in general to want to go have any booze. After all, a craving is a 'fantasy about having something, drinking, eating, etc., and not having to deal with the consequences of having it.' That's paraphrased out of Alcohol Explained, by William Porter.

Overall, I'm doing pretty well, getting some long overdue projects done and getting back into my hobbies a little bit at a time. Consistently eating right and getting regular exercise is next up in my long term plan. -Little by little I am going to turn this steam ship! Thanks for all the support! Thanks so much!!! This is THE longest I have gone without alcohol in perhaps 4 or 5 years; I'm not even sure how long it actually has been, but I am happy about it.

Take care, you can do this too! Have a great weekend!
-Max

Congratulations on your sober time!

Some of the physical changes you are noticing now (fatigue?) could just be a function of age. None of us are getting any younger.

And if you were consuming alcohol heavily for a period of time, you may not have noticed some of the gradual changes of aging or you may have attributed them to a hangover or something.

But being sober can help you to make other changes in your life, like regular exercise and a healthy diet. And you could end up feeling much younger than your chronological age.

Congratulations on 60 days Max. Hopefully the fatigue will go soon. I was still fatigued after 60 days but it did eventually get better.
