Feeling great
Feeling great
I’m on day 6 and feeling great and this is usually where I mess up! I don’t why know the feeling great equates to wanting to drink but hoping the cravings don’t come on. I worked with my husband outside today in 90° weather on a job and that also felt great to get out and do something different and get some exercise. We’ve made plans to go eat Mexican food tonight at our fav restaurant and I know he’s going to order a margarita. I was never really a liquor drinker but grew to love margaritas (always beer drinker). I have to remind myself why I’m doing this. Where I was last week was horrible. Hell, even where I was last night with irritability, anxiety and general unwell mental feeling. I prayed and went to sleep and woke up feeling great today!! The struggle is real. Plan to order soda water with lime juice and salted rim.
A virgin margarita sounds great! Every day you don't drink you'll feel better and better. We don't always feel great, as you have discovered, but honestly, my worst day sober is better than my best day drinking. It's such a relief to be free from it. It's worth all the discomfort of early recovery, and then some. You're doing so great!
Is there perhaps another mexican option where the place is not licenced Jillian? or is your husband really looking forward to that drink?
I always felt good after a few days and rationalised that if I feel this good so soon I can't be an alcoholic.
Crazy logic.

Thanks you guys. Food was delicious 😋 But of course I was just given a free shot even though I ordered water. (We are frequent customers). Giving it to my hubby - still sitting here lol.
I wish D but the place we go to has amazing food! Plus the owners are our friends lol. And my son works there. But I made it thru with my seltzer and lime juice yum

Congrats on Day 6. I sure wish I felt that great on my day 6. That tells me that you likely don't have much if any damage to your liver. I'm on day 45 and still have headaches, poor sleep, skin issues, mood swings, but am better than my day 6. I have the early stages of cirrhosis because I drank so heavily for so long and kept rationalizing that I could just keep drinking for whatever reason.
I'm 52 now and am looking at a life of dealing with the consequences and hoping and praying that I won't end up having to get a transplant, or die due to what could develop. I've already been told that my life expectancy is likely cut in half because of my liver disease. I don't know your specifics, and don't want to preach or anything like that, I don't mean to and I surely don't judge you or anyone else, but I sure hope and pray that you don't end up like me or worse. To tell the truth, I knew I was going too far, too long with my drinking for a very long time, but never thought it would be me, I never thought I would end up in such poor health. Please don't let it be you.
I applaud you on your 6 days, but please be careful about virgin drinks or non-alcoholic beer, etc. I wouldn't go near any of that because I think they would tempt me for the real thing too much and I would too use that "crazy logic" that all drinkers use. Maybe it's just me, but I know that I have strayed from the path of, "this time I'm really gonna quit..." too many times to go for the taste of even a fake drink.
The book: Alcohol Explained by William Porter has helped me more than anything to really understand what I was doing to myself with alcohol. Please give it a read. This forum also has really helped me pull some things together that I haven't been able to before.
Best of luck to you! Keep up the good work,
-Max

They use to think liver scaring was irreversible. It’s not. There are several drugs in trial now.
But even without those drugs. They are putting people with fatty liver on low fat diets. And believe it or not, vitamin E, milk thistle and brewed black coffee twice a day. And have seen some positive results.
There are other herbal supplements that help too.
So don’t give up hope.

I would love to know more about the info that you have. I've done quite a bit of research myself. I have the early stage of cirrhosis, no ascites, and I have the highest level of fatty liver that they can classify, so I'm hoping I'm not as bad off as I think. I have an ultrasound on Monday morning, more blood work, then see my specialist on Thursday. I'll put up a post. Please feel free to PM me with whatever sources you have. Thanks!
