The nerves I have had tonight and anxiety is alot but I’m trying to shut the devils voice up! Finding it hard but the evening is nearly over!

3 very tough foundational days on which to build. Hard-won days, those early days. But every single sober person with thousands of days sober has those first 3 right? You are in excellent company and you should be proud of your accomplishment.

Wel17 07-07-2021 01:49 PM

Well that is me in my bed, so today’s been a success. Did you find that removing all alcohol from your home was a good idea?

Surrendered19 07-07-2021 01:55 PM

I was the hopeless helpless kind of drinker at the end so there is absolutely NO WAY I could have had any alcohol in my home. 19 months in I still don't have any, but there are many folks on SR here who can stay sober with alcohol in the house. I don't know how they do it, but they do it.

Boondock 07-07-2021 01:57 PM

No alcohol in the house for me that's an absolute no-no for me.....much to tempting

dustyfox 07-07-2021 02:19 PM

I did have 3 bottles of white wine in a cupboard all very expensive and a gift from my husbands workplace - I always preferred red wine which is why they were still around - I took some perverse pleasure in opening each one and pouring them down the sink last week - I don't think at the moment I would be at all tempted - but I can imagine there could be an evening when they might have posed a risk.....so they have gone.......much to my husbands horror but hey ho...

Steely 07-07-2021 02:28 PM

In the beginning I had none. Knew I'd be circling it like a white pointer shark.

I still have none because I know I'd be thinking about it, and don't want to. Too much unnecessary pressure.

I can be around 'normal' drinkers now. If they start to become stupid I exit stage left.

Youre doing great Wel17.

Good work on getting through the day. Being safe and sound and sober in bed is a wonderful thing. Waking up sober even better!

Oh my gosh - yes! Get rid of it! Do not make it easy to pick up.

I can't keep alcohol in my home at all. Congrats on 3 days - great work!

Yes, get rid of it. You're a non-drinker now so have no use for it. :)

Hevyn 07-07-2021 02:57 PM

3 days is fabulous. Be proud. :yup:

Dee74 07-07-2021 03:19 PM

Anna 07-07-2021 04:12 PM

No alcohol in the house, ever. It's an easy thing to do. :)

Wel17 07-08-2021 03:52 AM

At work - day 4! Been thinking about it most of the morning in here 😫 finding it hard! But I will not touch it it will not beat me!

fishkiller 07-08-2021 04:48 AM

That's the ole addictive voice (AV) calling out to ya. Ignore it. Tell it you do not drink anymore.

Not easy at 1st but with practice it does get easier.

biminiblue 07-08-2021 05:59 AM

Yes, Day Four.

It gets easier, Wel. Keep going on the Right Path.

Steely 07-08-2021 06:05 AM
