Great suggestions but I've ended up with raw cacao pwd and almond milk for an awesome delicious hot and nourishing drink in this hideous weather.

Going to bed sober with not a drop of booze in my body.. I am sooo grateful for tonight, I may have an overfill belly but not as many calories as a bottle of wine..
Now for a herbal sleep tea and off to bed, fingers crossed I sleep well..

Lol I'm sure ya wouldn't, the problem comes when we lie to ourselves and trick ourselves into it again.. I'm hoping I don't try and do that too early on..

Your AV is gonna be working full time trying to get you to fail.

Just remember any and all positive thoughts about alcohol are just your AV lying to ya.

If alcohol was a positive influence in your life you, we, would not be here.

You are so right and thankfully I'm familiar with the trickery, I'm just hoping I can find a way that works to recognise it when it comes up and let it move on rather than giving in..

What works for me is remembering I Don't Drink Anymore. No matter what.

Anytime a thought pops up I repeat this.

The AV knows I mean it and shrinks away.

As boon said, stay strong. You're gonna need all the strength you can muster.

Get through the 1st few weeks and it does get easier
Just remember, you Do Not Drink Anymore

Managed to make it past the witching hour tonight, was touch n go earlier though, all it took was my partner to talk about going out for dinner one night this week and my brain went into overload. It takes a lot to either over ride it or ignore it..

Thanks Delilah. It really has to be one day at a time. As I was doing the dishes tonight I realised one of my biggest problems is casting my thoughts into the future of possible what ifs and it really dawned on me that I'm going to have to be really conscious to stay focused on the present moment otherwise I'm thinking about all my future drinking possibilities and we all know who loves those thoughts.
Tonight I'm doing it sober...

We can drink whenever we want to.
We choose to live a better life and not drink.

Good job Red, one day at a time and if you think about it reality is always now. We are always in a state of flux or impermanence I was in a different position and thinking different things a few seconds ago. So vigilance is a key component. Keep up the good work!!
