Sorry for the very British thread - it’s Euro 2021 Football/Soccer

Saying that, this isn’t the greatest German team. There is that glimmer of hope to lure us in and then lose on penalties ☹️

Really enjoyed/enjoying today’s games. Neutral games are always more enjoyable. My best tournament was Euro 2008 because England weren’t there! I was living in Germany and also went to a fan mile over the border in Innsbruck. Would’ve been ever better without the massive beer intake
I think SR might be suffering from technical gremlins because one of my earlier posts on this thread gives the distinct impression that France would win the tournament.
Unbelievably I missed both goals, the first because I'd gone to make a cup of tea and the second because I was making a sandwich (ham, cheese and tomato if anyone is curious)!
Needless to say, a great result.

👍🙂 I’m glad to be proved wrong.
I really like Thomas Mueller as a player, and that miss towards the end was really unlike him. His face said it wasn’t Germany’s day. I had to laugh that Joachim’s Loew’s 15-year reign ended like that!
Listening to the radio before the game. The local Tesco was doing a roaring trade (beer) but the Costa Coffee was empty. And look at the amount of beer bellies in the crowd. Funny kick off time too. Not many school kids would be able to get to Wembley by 5pm.

I never understand that either. If a crowd racially abuses a player, it’s big trouble now and rightly so, but you can boo a national anthem and no one seems to care. Maybe stop the anthems if people are that moronic.

Two great games today. I think even England would beat Spain at penalties (again). There were some hilarious penalties in there.
I know it’s not the case, but anyone would think the England games were scheduled to coincide with maximum alcohol purchasing time! Saturday 8pm. I wouldn’t go near a pub tomorrow if you paid me. I’m actually training for a triathlon so I’ve ditched the egg custard tarts for now 🙂

Watched the Belgium Italy game with a few (sensible) drinkers this evening. Italy looked good I must say. I also managed to watch most of the Spain Switzerland game at work. I agree with Hodd, some lame penalty takers there. I won't be watching tomorrow's match with any crowds though. Being sober with with a large group of Eng-er-land supporters does not appeal.
