Waking up to a SOBER WEEKEND - WEEKENDERS 11-14 June 2021

Welcome to the Weekenders

Really! A sober weekend?

Where you can wake up hangover free.

A place you can enjoy your waking hours with no boozy haze.

Going for a walk on the beach, or a hike up the hills, many hobbies we couldn’t partake of well or at all, whilst drinking or nursing hangovers.

This Sober weekend, shall we embrace our Sobriety, enjoy the freedom from the crutch of alcohol?

Let’s have an enjoyable Sober Weekend.
We also share bits and pieces of our lives and the things that are important to us, or make us laugh..anything that makes the journey a little easier.

(Psst. We’re not just here to talk about the good stuff, if you’re struggling.....shout out).

(We’re here all week too!)

I’ll be found reading a book in the shade of a tree somewhere.

Morning Weekenders! Shotgun?

Mags, I looked at all three pictures in your OP and tried to imagine being there in a hungover state. What a terrible waste it would be. Not missing those hangovers at all! Enjoy your reading in the shade.

Bonjour Vinny!

Thanks Mags. I'm IN for a sober weekend.

I'm having a very sporty weekend, though more of the watching than playing variety. This weekend sees the start of the delayed Euro 2020 football (soccer) tournament ⚽ as well as the mens and womens finals of the French Open tennis 🎾. I've already got my snacks and (alcohol free) drinks in. So I plan on having a pretty lazy weekend.

Sober weekend here, taking kids to their various clubs, getting down to the allotment, hopefully some walking by the coast and a film night on Saturday - waking to a sober and bright eyed Sunday.

A year and a half ago, going through an entire weekend without any sort of drinking did not even seem possible in my wildest dreams.

I would rig up an electric hoist for that tree house for groceries and such.

It will be a sober birthday weekend for me too... my favourite thing to do is go out for breakfast with the family to meet friends.

going out for breakfast instead of dinner, absolutely nobody will be drinking, kids are all wide awake, so no tantrums, and the best spontaneous ideas for the day come over a fun breakfast.

One minute and 29 seconds of this'll-get-your-heart-beating-in-a-good-way

Whale soup, PNW style.

Blessings for a sober weekend and sober week. Thank you Mags, for all you do.

Thanks Mags

I’m in for my second weekend now as officially retired. Planning on long-delayed house projects, playing with my puppers, smoking some pork products, and extra naps as needed. I guess I am still tired from all those decades of work

In for another sober weekend!

Thanks Mags, the weather is exceptionally good here, warm but not oppressive. Who would want to spend the weekend hungover while it's like this.

Great video bim. I would have been more anxious than those women.

Another August birthday here

I'M IN for another sober weekend! Thanks, Mags!
By my figuring, it's something like sober weekend #339 for me. 6 and a half years sober as of June 4.
Never gets old.

I'll be out in my kayak by 6 am fishing on Saturday morning. After fishing, we are going hiking. I also will spend some time working on the never-ending bathroom remodel. All of this, brought to you by sobriety. I might have done some of this on a weekend before sobriety, but I can guarantee I'd be feeling cruddy while doing it, and I seriously doubt I'd be up at 5 am heading to the fishing spot.

Happy birthday, Haris!
And congratulations on retirement, Hawkeye!

I can't wait to retire. I have had an excessively stressful week so far at work, and I don't get paid enough to put up with that amount of stress and responsibility (covering for other people who are not doing their jobs). It can't come soon enough. I will DEFINITELY take an early retirement. I'm turning 58 next week. I'm thinking 62 might be a nice age to hang it up. Should be possible if my finances don't collapse somehow. Grateful that even with yesterday's near panic attack at my desk, alcohol didn't enter my mind at all. It occurred to me as I was falling asleep last night that I hadn't even considered a drink as any sort of solution or comfort while I was crying at my desk. Things look better today (I finally made some other people understand that I needed help with the problem we are having).

Edited to add: That whale/kayak video freaked me out. I would have probably peed my pants. I'm still a little uncomfortable in my kayak on little lakes!!
