GREAT opening! Thanks Mags, for you, your time, and talent.

Crapulousness, and sitting on the fence..... the poem. Awesome! I’m in!

MLD, after so many months of my kid just being stuck at home, he went to a dance at his school last weekend and is planning to go with his friends to a spring on saturday. Its easy to see the excitement of his new found lease on life. My wife is obviously nerve rattled with the whole thing. I'm very glad to see him getting out and having activities with kids his own age. I've been a micro-worrier and given him instructions for every little detail of any imaginable situation he may encounter, but am finding it easy to begin letting go of all that.

Micro-worrier, that's exactly what I am. I hate it. I want to not be that person. It's exhausting.

It’s always a pleasure to see your Hergè inspired avatar, Cap’n.

My progress is sound. I’m feeling positive & resolute. I’m pretty sure I’m not the first person to claim sobriety only to dip a toe back in the alcoholic waters a couple of years later. Lesson learned. This is the real deal this time round.

How many years sober do you have now Captain? I have a vague memory you joined SR with years already under your belt?

Thanks Mags, that's an excellent poem. There is a poetry thread on SR but I have not visited it for ages. I must rectify that.

Sending healing vibes your way whitehorses, a broken humerus isn't funny. Congratulations on 4 weeks. When I was a kid my older sister used to be mad keen on a TV programme that was called The Whitehorses (I think) It was made in Eastern Europe somewhere and dubbed into English.

Reid, well done on facing those issues sober, it's a lot to deal so it would be easy to find an excuse to drink but that would only make things more difficult.

Good luck to your son Cityboy, I'm sure he'll have a great time.

It's damp and miserable in London today but I'm sober and we're heading for the weekend so my crapulousness-o-meter reading is low

Saou, I remember white horses. Do you remember the theme tune. “On white horses I will ride away”

We’ve got sun at last, I’m sure it’ll be coming covering UK soon. Mind you it wouldn’t surprise me if we have some rain too.

It was a programme aimed mainly at girls so had forgotten Mags but I Googled itand remembered as soon as the opening bars came on. I also found out it was filmed in Yugoslavia which is also a thing of the past. Sadly I also found out that its 15 year star - Helga Anders - was one of us and died aged 38.

Same!
I had never heard of the white horses show - I would have loved that as a kid; I was crazy over horses.
Thanks for the uploading tips - usually I can upload pics fine, but was having issues for some reasons. Appreciate the steps & will see if I can share one of my sober weekend woodpecker neighbors - looks like a distant cousin of the one in Mags' photo (maybe the American cousin). I love seeing the birds on the weekends (and remembering them)

I had to google 'crapulous' as I didn't know the meaning of it. I've heard it used before but couldn't remember what it meant. It perfectly defines my drinking 'career'. It is so nice now to not be under the influence anymore.

Oh this is hilarious. I didn't know it was a real word!! I thought Mags had invented it! OK, as I was taught in grade school: use each new word you learn in a sentence. "I am looking forward to a non-crapulous weekend." Well, not as creative as Mags' wonderful poem, but I stand by the sentiment!

Welcome Burra

I think I have to take the blame for introducing crapulous to the SR Community,
It is a real word but it's also a great pun.

ITS AWESOME!

My only crapulous experience today was going to the nursery three times for an item, they said they had it via phone conversation but couldn’t say that was for sure, so I went in. They actually didn’t have it out, but thought they had it on a pallet somewhere. They would call us.

Then we got a text that they had the item, so I drove back, only to find the text came from a person that mistook the item for what we were looking for, but wasn’t it.

Third time after they said they have 19 of the items I only need five of, I found two hidden in a weird area.

they are Coco planter shells for trough planters.

Old me would have drank alcohol in my frustration.

Not today, not for me.No alcohol. Not ever.

I’m not dying for a drink.

😬😂😂😂😂🥥🥥🥥

That would be super annoying, Free ~ Glad you finally found what you were looking for

Welcome, Burra ~ You've come to the right place!

Suffering physically from the consequences of excessive eating or drinking. Surcharged with liquor; sick from excessive indulgence in drinking or eating.
