Sleeping sober

June 2 will be three years and I could type all day about how my life has turned around.
MyHR most profound change is in my sleep. I was always a guy who would fall asleep for a couple of hours, be awake, then fall asleep. Always could wake up without an alarm when needed, etc.
Now, I fall deep asleep and dream, often wake up after 6-8 hours and couple sleep more.
this didn’t start until I was at least a year sober. Anyone else experience this?

I do not sleep more than 5 or 6 hours most nights and I wake up a few times, old age problems lol, but the sleep I do get is Much better.
I'm just over a year sober so maybe my time is coming?

No, insomnia is always with me.

If you are concerned about the fatigue, maybe you could check with your doctor at some point?

I just have four months but my sleep slooooooowly improves! Progress is slow but definitely sure, enough to make me happy about it, and feel better in the morning. I have heard others say on SR that sleep improvement was a slow process though.

I’m on day 24 and I am so exhausted! I keep doing things though as I don’t want to just rest all the time! I’m hopeful the more sober time I have the better my sleep and the less exhausted I will be!

Now this clean I am so happy to see a pattern in my sleep.

The pattern ends with me coming out of the deepest sleep I have ever felt.

So deep, it almost feels like I am coming out of a coma. Whatever that feels like.

It is a wonderful gift of sobriety that I will never give up.

I don't brag about it because active addicts and so called normies wont get it.

Only folks that want to get and stay clean care.

Fine with me.

AA taught me that we can't chase down and sell sobriety to an active addict.

They have to want it. They have to want what I have.

Thanks.

I slept pretty well for ten years sober but now I'm like Anna - insomnia and or broken sleep....in my case...aches pains and going to the bathroom.

I'll still take this over that 3AM jolting awake full of dread thing

I find that I fall asleep really quickly now and have deep, dreamless sleeps every night. I wish I could force myself to sleep longer than i need but my body wakes and wants up and active.

I wish my sleep was better with about 1.75 yr. sober but I'll accept it. Beats the hell out of the alternative.
