Looking for day one again!
I found too, AD, that when I allowed myself to 'feel' the feelings attached to grief I was made a better person. It was painful but I grew, and was able to demonstrate this to my brother in his final days.
We went for a walk outside of the hospital and he commented on the beauty of the trees. He knew he was dying. I could never have had this special moment with him had I been drinking. I am grateful to this day. Always wil be. He died two days later. My bro. And he'd be supporting you too, as used to be an injecting drug user. Got clean.
"Grief is simply love, with nowhere to go." Stick with the love, I say. Give it a place in your sober heart.
And if not, we are still here for you. Always.
