Day 7 - an MRI and I beat my fear without alcohol ! So I had to have an MRI on my arm so they can see what is going on with the tendon. I HATE MRIs - the idea of lying in a noisy, claustrophobic tube fills me with dread ! They put me on my stomach with my arm in basically the most painful position and I had to lie there for 30 minutes. It felt like I was dying and I kept deep breathing and repeating to myself “they’re trying to help you !”... then they made me move my arm and did another bout for c 20 minutes ...but I did it !! Perfect images apparently because I didn’t move ! I’m so proud I’ve bought myself two little salted caramel cheese cakes and I intend to eat both ! At least I’m not guzzling wine as a reward ! |
The Big Book says: [W]e aren’t a glum lot. If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn’t want it. We absolutely insist on enjoying life. One of the ways I enjoy my life is by rewarding myself with healthy treats when I walk through something unpleasant. Congratulations! |
I'm sorry Icandothis, mysterious injuries and illnesses are the worst. I don't tolerate physical pain and discomfort well, so always feel for people going through such things. Hope the docs will have a fuller picture of the problem and will come up with effective (and not too painful) treatment soon. Excellent job dealing with all this sober! :) |
I'm glad you got through that. Salted caramel cheesecake sounds delicious. |
Indeed it is, but as it turned out, it’s so sweet I could only manage one ! Probably for the best ! |
That's amazing!! I've been avoiding my ECG's, maybe I'll finally do them lol |
I’m glad you got through that ICDT - and congrats on your week :) D |
That's impressive ICDT. Feels great when we manage our fear without alcohol. And apparently we get better at it each and every turn. Congrats on 7 days. These are the days my friend. |
