Day 6 - torn tendon ! :-(

Hi, so I went to the doctor (a super experienced consultant and expert in elbows and arms) and he diagnosed a partial tear of my biceps tendon ( where it attaches to the bone at the elbow). I think I must have done this when I had a massive gardening session hauling plants and pots up four flights of stairs to my balcony garden a few weeks ago because that’s when it started. The pain in my wrist and hand he thinks is referred pain. Said it was definitely not carpal tunnel. So I have to have an MRI next week to confirm it... am feeling a bit down as it takes ages to heal and is very painful but I won’t drink.

Sorry to hear about your injuries. I deal with alot of injuries being so active. But when I get injured my depression creeps its way in . I just work on finding alternative to keep active. Wishing you a full recovery. Have a wonderful day.

I'm sorry about your injury ICDT. My only advice is to not let the malaise and depression creep in too far as stickyone warns against. Your new workout regimen is faithfully doing your physical therapy - both now and/or post-surgery if the docs need to repair it. Walk. PT. Breathe. Rest. Walk. PT. Breathe. Rest.

And it is heartening to hear you vow not to drink. Hang in there and I hope you got your plantings such that you can enjoy them while you heal.

I am so happy you went to the doctor. Not happy to hear of the tendon. I hope you are not in too much pain and that you will heal quickly. Time to modify and use the other arm....... That really sucks. Its not in your head though.
Keep on moving forward!

So one of the benefits of being sober, in my experience is recognizing that I was hurt or am sick. I could black it out - or think it was hangovers or whatever. So getting to the doctor may or may not have happened. So I'm glad you went in and got a diagnosis. I'm sorry you have the injury.

So the next benefit of being sober when injured - you will absolutely heal faster. The body isn't working overtime to rid of toxins allowing resources for other things - like healing. Also, in an injury such as that - you must take care how you are using your arm. I know when I was drinking - caution went into the wind and I would further hurt an already sore back for example.

I wish you a good recovery

I'm sorry about the pain and the long healing process, but good for you for getting to the root of your problem. Just try to take care of your arm and hopefully you will feel improvement soon.

Sorry to hear ICDT. Good you got to a specialist.

Bloody potplants! Did my back in that way, thought I was the Hulk, butI had the wrong suit on.

Great when we know we will not drink no matter what the circumstance. Evidence based. I only had to view my history to know that it would never work.

You're doing great Ican. Me too for that matter. Joy to the World.

This sounds so painful. If you're anything like me drinking would make it worse anyways...a small stumble or accident and you could really do some damage. Sober is the best way to go.
