I remember Ziggy very well. The little marshmallow-shaped guy who opined on subjects great and small.

Good Morning Weekenders

I’m going to a barbecue later. There’ll only be 5 of us with mil, hubby and two family friends. A few years back I would’ve worried about how to say no to any alcoholic drink but nowadays it doesn’t bother me at all. I’ll take some fruit drinks with me too. Amazing how we can retrain our brains to not want booze. Ikm grateful I found the sober life.

It’s going to be another warm day over here so I’ll be using plenty of sun block and be the one under the brolly,

Take care. xxxx

Hi Weekenders,

Thanks Mags (and Bim). What to do you do when the going gets tough? A good question. I have heard this week that my house is being sold by the landlord and will no longer be available to rent. The housemates have already been given their notice. It's all going to be a bit of an upheaval. Some of my previous moves have been disastrous with poor mental health and drinking so I am rightly concerned.

I don't drink.
If I Iost my job what would I do?
I wouldn't drink.
If my car is dead what do I do?
I don't drink.
"First thing first" I read on the wall in an AA meeting!
This is exactly what I needed to read - thanks CK. Whatever happens, I must not drink.

On a more positive note, my local swimming pool has reopened and I've booked a swim! My goodness it has been a while. I wonder if I'll sink

Onwards, best wishes to all. Forwards.

Thanks Mags, I’m in for a sober weekend.

Andy and Manta, I hope you’re both feeling better soon.

I’m trying to be positive but still feeling flat. My moods sure are all over the place lately. I’m tired, so off for a nap to see if that helps.
Like cats, I love naps, even if I don’t really sleep, just laying down resting is good

Welcome to SR Cavalry

andyh, I've heard of people sleeping for many hours after a covid jab. Hopefully it will help you feel better.

Congratulations on 142+ days CBS.

Hello Forwards, hopefully you'll find somewhere else to live without too much hassle.

Willow, I hope you have a good weekend. Also hopefully a weekend away might help stabilise your mood (I think you posted you are away this weekend?)

I've not heard of Ziggy (other than in connection with David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust!). A look at wikipedia reveals its a US cartoon strip character.

Thanks Dee and Robbie, yes I’m away for a couple of nights this weekend. It’s a long weekend and we’re heading off in the morning for 2 nights. I won’t be taking any alcohol with me and I asked for there not to be any in our room. I’m not sure if the girl on the phone today understood me though, I think she was answering the phone for the proprietor who was out, and her English wasn’t very clear. Fingers crossed....

Yes Dee I have to stay focused! I’m taking a new book with me on discovering the meaning of my life so hopefully that will keep my mind focussed and occupied in recovery mode...

Andy that cat napping is gorgeous

Salutations Weekender Aficionados,

Popping in to say im in. Took a few days off work to enjoy the weather and get my vegetable patch planted. 25°c expected here today.

I'm very pleased to announce the completion of the jigsaw. I think I wont be getting a 1000 piece. I would probably get to the north pole faster.

Here is a pic of a nearby village from a hiking trail.

Thanks Mags and Bim.

Take care weekenders

Thank you Mags.! Good Morning to all of you weekenders!
It never ceases to amaze me how much a tree can bend in a storm without breaking or becoming uprooted!
I am in for the ride storming or calm!
I need to let my roots grow deep as I never want to go back to the insanity of my drinking!

Hello weekenders.

I am barrelling towards 10 months alcohol free, no desire to drink ‘now’ but my AV is trying to make a deal with me for drinking after 12 months, I am not entertaining the idea but I wish it would shut up.

as a few others on here I had my first COVID jab this week and i was awful the day after..but I am taking a positive out of it as the after effects felt just like a bad hangover.. so I have reinforced a reason I don’t drink without having to have a slip.

my son (7 years old) wants us to camp in the garden this weekend, so I think I might need to book a visit to the osteopath for Monday.

Friday and there will be no drinking.

Mags, what's a brolly? I'm thinking it's one of the big umbrellas?

Vman, nice view and good job on the puzzle. I've said it before but I'll stick to the 10 minute online ones.

brolly = umbrella

Not just one of the big umbrellas but any umbrella though in the context Mags uses the word it would be one of the big umbrellas / parasol. They are a saviour for me too when it's sunny and hot!
