Hi James

I thought about making this a PM but what the hell

I am white and middle aged and Anglo Saxon, but I also have cerebral palsy so I'm not exactly talking out my backside when I speak about trauma or even discrimination - and how important it was for me to lay that burden down.

I was called many many hurtful names and laughed at...even in my family....but I decided about 10 years ago that I was done with letting other people's crap wear me down.

If you're not ready to do that, I get that - that's your journey - but try your best not to let that trauma lead you to more drinking, James.

It doesn't help and it keeps you stuck.

You should not be punished or continue punish yourself for other peoples bigotry or cruelty, man.

ps There are a lot of terms that are very offensive to Indigenous Australians - best to avoid those, especially when we know how those names can hurt.

I'm sorry for your disability, James.

I only mentioned mine as context for my thoughts shared before.
I'm not a gatekeeper for all disabled peoples experience and I've never set myself up as one.

The important part of my posts in this thread is don;t use other peoples bastardry to justify your drinking.

You're a good guy and you deserve better even from yourself.

As an Admin, I only ever 'reprimand' people according to the rules of this website - rules you and I and everyone else agreed to when we signed up here.

I don't remember the other occasion, but the only reason the word got through the automatic censor here is you misspelled it.

Being called nasty names ourselves doesn't give us the right to do the same.

Its not a nice word - don't use it, man.

I think it's time for me to leave this thread.
