Day 4 - telephone hearing with Judge
Hi,I am just about to have a telephone hearing with a Judge to renew the non molestation order against my son. He has abused me for years physically, emotionally and economically. Sometimes I reacted by drinking which I realise was inappropriate. Recently he has been extorting money out of me by saying he’ll show a video of me drunk to friends and work colleagues and post it on the internet unless I give him £5000. On some occasions I have capitulated :-( This HAS to stop. I hope the Judge can order it to ! At least I’m sober. I’ll keep you posted !
Congrats on Day 4 ICDT! I hope the hearing goes well.
Whatever you do, don't capitulate to your son's demands. Tell the judge of the threat, hopefully you have something in writing (text msg, etc) but if not, don't worry about it. What's the worst that can happen anyway? People see a drunk you and you can now tell them "I no longer drink". In any case, cut off all contact. He is a horrible person, and instead of working on himself, he is extorting his own mother. At this point nothing he is doing is your fault.. Time to move on.

Hurray ! The Judge ruled in my favour, extended the non molestation order and told my son that if he continued with the extortion, he would find himself in court (again) with a minimum sentence of 5 years in prison ! Phew ! I’m so relieved (not gonna drink though don’t worry ! )
Good. Maybe your son will slither back under what ever rock he's living under.
Don't drink in celebration/relief.
Just keep doing the next right thing. You've made it past this hearing, what's next for you? Do you have a house project you can start? Something good for you that improves your own life? Maybe clear out a drawer or paint a room? Buy a new shower curtain or sheets?

Hi I'm new here, I've been reading a lot on the forums and I've read a bit of what you've been going through with your son.Im glad you've gotten a good outcome with the Judge and hopefully know you can put this behind you and start afresh. I'm rooting for you and really want you to keep going so you wont ever have to go through the horror of the withdrawal again, I know what they are like .I never want to go through it again. Keep posting on here so we can keep eachother on the right track
