Won't be posting a lot for a little while- tore up my shoulder!

Took a wicked fall at work late last week, landed on my shoulder and felt a sharp POP! from it. Got an appt with ortho later this week. I'm fine but the right arm is useless ATM. It's kind of hard to type and especially diifficult to use the mouse. So, just want you all to know I'm stopping in and reading posts here daily, just ffinding it fvery difficult to type any replies. I'll be around though and posting more when I get the use of my arm backa gain!

Do you think it's a dislocated shoulder, Myth? I hope you can begin with physio or something to help with healing.

It doesn't seem dislocated. It could just be a sprain, could be some ligament/tendon damage; I don't know and I hate to speculate too much since I have an ortho appt already set up. But I'll admit it's frustrating to me! 2020 sucked for all of us and I was looking forward to 2021 being better. Probably it still will be but this is a great annoyance. Out walk in cooler & freezer are outdoors, and I was grabbing a few items to work on for guests when I slipped on the ice and went down hard. Kind of frustrating that I pointed out when the cooler was planned last summer; I mentioned that there should probably be a sidewalk there for safety but somehow the recommendation fell through the cracks. It was probably inevitable that someone was going to get hurt there, and it turned out to be me!

I'm sure I'll bounce back, will update after the ortho docs take a peek at it. Fingers c rossed that it's not too serious.

We'll just keep talking and you can read along.

I hope it turns out to be something that has a good and fast treatment. Also, that you are compensated if you're now off work.

I had a follow-up visit today, just a brief one. The doc is holding me out of work for another week or until the ortho doc clears me. With luck that could be Friday. My boss is pretty understanding; it happened at work so he knows if I could be there I would! Sadly it's hardly a "vacation"- I can't do much of anythng with the right hand. Even running the mouse is a strain and I can't move my arm high enough to use a fork or spoon. It's probably hilarious though watching me try to use a spoon wiht my left!

Thanks for all the well wishes! Hopefully I'll check out fine with ortho and nothing is too screwed up.

Well, I had an MRI, CT and more X-rays. It's bad. The lead doctor says it's the worst shoulder injury he's ever seen! He's laid out a couple of courses of action, both of which being kind of bad. I think I'll have get a second opinion before I proceed; worker's comp will cover it and I want to be sure I'm choosing the best course of action before I leap. As it stands now option #1 is an arthroscopic surgery which might do it, or it might now. If it doesn't the next step would be a shoulder replacement but that isn't simple since I the fall broke some bone on both the ball and the socket. At this point I'm not what the outlook is.

But I have no desire to drink! That wouldn't help anything, but just throwing it out there in case anyone was concerned. I'm hoping to get most of the use back but I know it may not be as good as it was. I'm just trying to deal with life on life's terms!
