Not New - Retuning Addict
Hi People.
I joined back in 2008 approximately after struggling for years with alcohol. I got sober in 2010 and had 8 alcohol - free years. I'd done years and years of groups but it was THIS FORUM that got me through (I'm also a practicing Zen Buddhist).
The May before covid my wife and I had our first foreign holiday in 20 or so years. I instigated "the odd beer" to enjoy the holiday. By January just as covid hit my marriage was finished - she could not go through another recovery. Fair enough.
Now I'm alone. There's pills, cocaine and alcohol.
No point giving you all the misery and torment and idiocy. You've mostly all been there done that.
I can't get into rehab as it's all private here in the UK.
I just have to knuckle down and get on with things. I've done it before, I can do it again.
Happy to be back and looking forward to meeting you all.

Thank you so much!
I really came back out of blind recall - no clue how a forum got me sober but knowing I HAVE to do something as I'm edging towards some dangerous territory.
I've just had my first sniff - bad choice of word... My first prickling of memory.
It's the PEOPLE. The care and love that streaks across the Internet from people you've never met...
Thanks. It's good to be home.
