Over Two Weeks In - Back Posting

Hi everyone, I took a few days off to deal with some especially sad news. But drinking won't make anything better, it won't bring back my friend, and I owe it to them to be grateful for life that was so unfairly taken from them. Over two weeks in now, my desire to drink seem to last a few hours each evening. Then it passes and I feel better again. I've gotten a routine with it now, kind of like work, I just think of it as a task that must be completed, even though I'd rather not deal with it, but ultimately is going to be fine soon.

I'm starting to feel like a sober person properly now, not just someone who hasn't drank for a while.

It was a big big test, the loss you suffered recently. It is a testament to the strength of your plan and commitment to recovery that you stayed sober so early on your journey all while facing such grief. You should be proud of yourself.

Good job on getting through this. As Surrendered said, the loss of your friend has been a test, and getting through this time sober, will empower you. And, your friend would be happy for you.
