I am new to this and I am trying something different. I try on my own and talk to friends but it's hard when they don't know how I feel like understand addiction. They use but not how I was. Thanks for your time.

Hey there,
Well you have found a community of like-minded people dealing with a similar process. It is not easy to reach out, but it is a huge step in the right direction and you should definitely pat yourself on the back. acknowledging that you have different tendencies than those around you is huge. There is a promise of Freedom right around the corner if you choose to become and live a sober life. There are many examples on this forum and all of the information you could need. Outside of this forum I also attend regular 12-step meetings in person and on zoom and that is my new friend group. I unfortunately had to let go of everybody I knew while I was still drinking and using. I do not regret a single element of where I am right now. Wishing you all the best.

Thank you all.
Thanks for the support. I have been battling this off and on since 2014 and its been good at times I went a long time with out. I stop one habit then went to a different one. Then back to the other. I was doing good this year and I slipped up again and flushed what I bought. Then turned around and bought another.
