I saw this today and it really resonated with me. It's the illogic and severity of addiction in one simple phrase. So true.

I love this! To me it means, give up that one thing - ALCOHOL and embrace sobriety to either get or get back everything of importance to yourself (loved ones, self respect, trust, financial securities, etc.) OR lose all of it eventually if you choose to pick up that ONE drink that will turn into a thousand drinks!

So true. The person who won the lotto isn't thinking about the $2 he gave up on the ticket.

But before I got sober, all I could think about was how $2 was too much to give up to win the lotto.

Unfortunately, I had already lost everything when I got sober for the first time. All got from giving up alcohol was loneliness, isolation, and depression. I waited far too long to get help.

What's up WL? Good to see you. Have you ever read 12 Rules for Life?

This quote sounds absolutely crazy. Yet if I have alcohol in my system, I'm choosing the alcohol over everything else.

Never heard it before but love this, definitely summarizes the insanity of addiction, the possibilities in recovery, and the maddening dissonance I lived before I got sober. Will add it to the "tape" I like to play when I have cravings

I saw that meme making the rounds this week, too on socials. Couldn't agree more!
