Day eight. Feeling grateful for SR

Thanks to those that have offered tips and words of encouragement.

I think the brain fog may be the worst part right now. That feeling kind of being far away. Like I’m watching myself do things and really have to focus to be 100% present. I remember this from other times. But I also remember the last time I reached 30 days or so I was driving into work and it hit me. I wasn’t far away anymore. I think my biggest reason in general to get sober is because I want to be present in all aspects of my life. I’m tired of not being a 100% version of myself. I start each day reminding myself of this. I think having my focus on that is really helping.

You are doing great Jj. 8 days is a great great start. Those early days definitely included a "stunned" feeling for me. Likely what you describe as "fog". Keep it going Jj. Forward to a healthy peaceful life.

So glad you're on Day 8. The early days are rough - but things will look up, Jj.

You won't always feel this way. This is temporary, while your body and brain readjust to functioning normally. It takes a while to see benefits, but stay sober and the benefits will show themselves. At 8 days you're likely done with the physical withdrawal, now you have to focus on the mental withdrawal from a drinking lifestyle.

To strengthen your sobriety, I strongly recommend practicing gratitude every day. It's made a huge difference in my life. Here's an article about how being grateful can makes us happier.

Day 8 is fantastic and you will love the fully-present version of yourself.

Nice goal. And a great motivator. The more you do it the more you want to do it.
