I am now 7 years clean, last drink 02/17/2014

Hello friends,

Haven't posted on the board in a few years (2017 I think?), and my goodness how the world has changed in such a short amount of time (for the worse, unfortunately). I'm not gonna lie... between COVID, the crumbling economy, and just the general state of the world I've had some moments of weakness where I was tempted, but thankfully I never did cave. Now sober for 7 years as of today!

Time has just been flying by - at least until recently when the whole world got turned upside - I am grateful for having made it this far in one piece, things could be worse. I was headed down the same dark path as my father (also an alcoholic).

Anyways, I'm hoping this gives some hope for the new people.

Thanks for your post, grubby. It's been a tough year on all of us, thankfully there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Congratulations on 7 years. That'a a magnificent accomplishment my friend.

The world surely is a mess grubby, but would be made even messier if I were to drink.

7 years is so amazing Grubby. It does indeed help people like me VERY much when people like you with long term sobriety come on here and tell us what that is like. Hop onto SR when you can spare a few minutes for the Newcomers and other threads. Here's to the next 7 years!!!
