First the Man takes a Drink, then the Drink takes the Man

I found this photo extremely powerful - a picture speaks a thousand words....

That's certainly a powerful picture.
I may even print it off and get it framed and hang it in a relevant place for whenever the urge arises.
Pleased you posted it👍

Do you know if this sculpture is real and if so, the artist? It’s pretty spot on. Thanks for sharing the image!

Thanks John. The way I heard it years ago is:

First the man takes a drink,
Then the drink takes a drink,
Then the drink takes the man..

But in any case we all know where it ends up.. and that image.. wow!

I don't know - it's a pic from a Facebook group called "Weird **** You Find in Thrift Stores". It would be an interesting piece to have for sure.

Somehow this reminds me of the old Gil Scott-Heron song, The Bottle. The stories of various people get listed, and they all end up living in the Bottle.

See that black boy over there, runnin scared
His ol man's in a bottle
He done quit his 9 to 5 to drink full time
So now he's livin in the bottle

Now there's a piece of art that tells a story.

Thanks for posting this - fantastic piece of art, and of course very meaningful here. The quote also fits perfectly. I've never heard of Thomas Lerooy before but looked him up online and think I've just found a new artist whose work I really like. He also has other interesting sculptures that really draw me in.
