Need encouraging words Good morning! I’m new to this site and could use some encouraging words. I really want to put alcohol in the past. Today is day one! |
Day one and a great start to a healthy 2.0 edition of you! This forum has been my main recovery tool. I check in here daily and participate with other like minded people. So far so sober and I am really happy about it! Welcome aboard. |
Welcome, Hopeful! You can do this. Life without alcohol is much better. It takes some adjusting, but is so worth it. |
Hi Hopeful63. My words of encouragement are that there is hope. Hang around here and read what people say. There are plenty of hopeless drunks, like me, who are now getting on with their lives without alcohol. Because I wasn't hopeless, I realise now. I was just drunk!! Hope your day one is ok, it can be quite a thing withdrawing from alcohol so take it easy |
Welcome! There is always hope and you've found a very supportive community. :) |
!1!1 Hi Hopeful63, great name - being hopeful is big time......well, I am in the same boat as you today. I just wanted to welcome you and let you know we are all here for you - Its difficult on the first day. but we are all rooting for you to get sober forever! And me too - I have drank my whole life and I am finally seeing the true damage it does, - Lets get sober forever!!!!!! drink lots of water and know you will come through this within 24hrs. Stay with us :grouphug: |
Welcome to SR hopeful, you've made a great decision and also found a great community for support. I was a daily drinker for over 25 years and quit with the help of SR, you can do it too! |
Thank you for everyone’s encouraging words! I’m very grateful. |
Welcome Hopeful :) this is a great place to be, particularly when you're at the beginning of your journey. Read around like Be said, no shortage of inspiration here, looking forward to offering you my support Love Billy x |
Day-1s are tough. It can seem overwhelming to get to the amount of clean time that some ppl on here post about. It's important to remember everyone you 'meet' on here who was significant clean time was at Day-1 once. You can do this! Just take it one day at a time and make sobriety your #1 priority.. Just one day with no drinking.. That's all you gotta do! Focus on that for now.. Please remember that any questions you have or situations you are struggling with you can come on here and we all will be more than happy to help. |
You guys are awesome! I feel so encouraged by everyone.😊 |
Hi and welcome from me too, Hopeful. I drank for 30 yrs. I was so trapped - drinking all day in the end. When I found SR I really didn't see how a forum could help - but knowing everyone understood made all the difference. I didn't have anyone in my life who knew what I went through. It took me a long time to realize that what was once a fun way to relax had become a necessity. Being here relieved my anxiety & helped me find the courage to live my life alcohol free. You can do it too. |
Thank you! |
I will definitely be on this site tonight when I usually get cravings. I have already walked seven miles and feel so much support. While I was walking, I made a list in my head about all of the negative things from drinking. |
Welcome Hopeful63 :) This community helped me to change my life...I know we can help you too :) Really good to have you aboard! D |
Welcome Hopeful. You can change your life here - I did. Exercise really helps, 7 miles is amazing! |
Welcome to SR Hopeful. This is a great community for support. |
Keep posting, keep reading. If you have cravings tonight, log on this site and post, and someone will answer. If you haven't done it already, join the Jan. class and post. I posted dozens if not hundreds of times in my first few weeks. Form bonds with people here and it will reinforce your commitment to sobriety. |
The Class Of January support thread is open to anyone who wants to join. All you need to do is post :) .https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/newcomers-recovery/451731-class-january-2021-part-three-4.html D |
Well, here we are Hopeful, all getting sober and hopeful together, where most others had turned their backs on us as hopeless. But we know better. We are good people trying to get well. And we will, so long as we don't pick up that first drink. Take a tip, I tried and failed. :( I'm now 12 months sober, and it is so much better. The long way home is the more interesting and rewarding route. Learn so much about ourselves. Welcome Hopeful. |
