Obstreperous - no, I was a very quiet and shy child.
Kaily, Daisy looks very sophisticated in her coat.
MesaMan, MesaPup is a smart pup; he has found a safe place to weather out the world’s craziness.
Another Weekend at hand; let’s do this soberly and together.
Love to all

Completely random post: the thread title puts me in mind of this old ditty, these are the words I learned:
Oh, Jemima, look at your Uncle Jim,
he's in the duck pond learning how to swim,
first he does the breast-stroke, then he does the side,
then he does the back-stroke, swimming against the tide.
Has anyone else come across this one?

Swimming against the tide. Yep, know the feeling.
^ Evidently that poem/song is an old music-hall ditty, used to be reasonably well-known in England, one can find references to it if one googles the first line.
biminiblue - I hope your ankle mends up quickly.
Do you have liniment e.g. Arnica to apply?
Best wishes to you.
Best wishes to all

Good Morning Weekenders
I forgot your mention yesterday. I saw a lesser spotted woodpecker feeding on the tree outside my window. I haven’t seen them for ages and usually get the greater spotted woodpecker. Whether he always visits and I noticed because I’m watching them slightly more at the minute.
It’s cold again, not that I’ve been out yet but I let the cats in and out. They didn’t hang about. I’ve got a cat flap for them but Missy has brought two live field mice in, in the last week so I’m ‘mouse monitoring‘ them.
Leigh I hope you had success in getting through to book a vaccine.
Love to all our absent friends. Hope you’re doing ok. xxxx
Take care and be safe. xxxx

Your cat story made me chuckle, Mags, and reminded me of an experience I had with a cat.
About a decade or so ago, maybe less, we had back to back snowstorms which caused over T5 feet of snow with large drifts to pile up. I heard a cat meowing persistently outside of a door in the basement; it had apparently taken refuge under the porch above during the second storm and couldn’t get out. As I am severely allergic to cats, I couldn’t let it in. I felt that it was warm in its little igloo but probably very hungry. I would open the door just a crack and throw bits of food to it a couple times a day. In the weeks months that followed, I would find dead mice at that door and at our front door. I would also see the cat prowling around, too. I suspect that he was the one leaving me the mice.
Seeing those woodpeckers must be cool.

I like the lesser spotted woodpeckers, I have seen one in my garden but it is a rarely. I guess the colder it gets the braver they get in search of food.
Going walking as soon as it gets light, before the masses. It is very icy!
Have a good day all.

"Mouse monitoring" Mags?! I have visions of you standing there with a clipboard and getting the cats to leave a paw print as they leave and return to your house!
I don't think I've seen any woodpeckers anywhere near where I live. I assume it's just too urban around here for them to venture this far.
Welcome WaterOx and hello to Mags, SoberLeigh and Kaily
