Whoop whoop welcome everyone!

I'm at ten months sober and would like to say hello and welcome.

So....

Hello and Welcome Everyone 😁

The best thing about this site is that it gives hope - when things feel hopeless or that you can't go on, log in and somebody will prove to you (normally through their own sobriety and journey) that there is always a way through.

My weight was fine before I started taking this medication. I think I was like 150 lbs @ 6'0 tall. Fast forward three months after taking it and I am 170 lbs.

I am hoping being sober and alcohol free will help a little with my weight goal.

Been very depressed lately and I am not sleeping well at all. Highly motivated & committed to sobriety, but this sleepless depression has been absolutely horrible. Not even talking to my therapist about it helps.

I can't blame it all on the alcohol, because truth is I didn't drink much at all in December. I've just been fighting the lows of depression (What's new there? Been doing it for close to 40 years now). Sorry for the ramble. I've been up all night and I just wanted to put some thoughts down.

Here we go

I have spent the last couple of years trying to moderate my drinking. Sometimes with success but mostly not. I have to stop the rollercoaster and get off of this ride. Today will be day one for me.

Welcome new 2021 Januararians.

I am in the Jan 2020 class and wanted to check in and wish you all the best.
Like many people, I had tried and failed to stay sober in the past. I was embarrassed to sign up for a new class, worried I might fall off the wagon again.
With the encouragement of my classmates, many of us got through the year as a group.
It is still a lot of work and frustratingly hard to see progress at times, but choosing a happy, sober life each day has been life changing. Also for loved ones as trust and relationships began to grow back over the year.

Best of luck in 2021. You can do this.

dlb

Good morning Jannies!

Gotta help put away the decorations. That should keep me out of trouble today.

i got into swimming this fall so I have an hour swim scheduled this evening. I’ve learned that if I schedule exercise or make a plan during that two hour “a drink sounds good” window that the feeling doesn’t have a chance to make roots.

it’s always that first one I need to avoid.

wishing you all a great day.

B

Good morning, everyone!

Barely slept last night but woke up today day #3 sober.

Today I'm going for a drive after work, making some pasta sauce, and starting a new book.

Glad to be here with everyone!

Morning class

Good sleeps, but my GI tract is a mess. I guess it will be a long road to full health. But do love the sleeps. Nice to see everyone joining up.

What are some of your activities to keep that AV at bay? Urge Surf?

Another January 2020 Classmate checking in here.

A year ago I decided to come here and put alcohol behind me as y'all have done.
I can say I wasn't very confident but thanks to the support from SR and especially the Class of Jan 2020 here I am 2 weeks away from a year sober.
Something I have never done since I started drinking 35+ years ago.

Put in the work, post here if the AV gets to you. Make a plan and follow it and you too will be free from alcohol.

Coming in from the class of January 2018 to put the full force of my support behind everyone in this class!!! Even though I technically quit in December, the January class was the single biggest factor in my sobriety and ongoing recovery. Try to remember all the misery of alcohol, instead of buying into a false belief that it is your only relief, when it is likely the source of most of your problems. You can definitely do this!

It may take a while to get back to full health. I noticed my joint pain just about non-existent after a couple months.

As far as the AV, I tell it I Do Not drink anymore.
It was a little harder than that in the beginning though. I like to play it forward if it won't go away. Just picture what happens when you drink. Then remember the reason you are here.
It is to find reasons not to drink. Not the other way around.

Fishkiller! well done on a year sober in 2 wks time, its great to come back on this afternoon and read some good posts on what some people are doing to keep the AV away, me i am still in my PJs and been refusing to go out to the shops to help me not pick up on my witching hour. I have plenty of soft soda juices i got from my daughter to help me in december, so will just enjoy one of them and maybe eat some dinner at a normal time to keep me in good sted.
anyway just wanted to post and share and good to see some more people x

puckluck sry missed saying i do hope things get little bit better in your depression x

I'm in too please. Strong start at 7 days sober and really determined. Made some big life changes around recovery and making it central in my life. Try what you haven't tried and all that!!

Happy to be here ❤️
