Happy New Sober Year Weekenders 01- 04 January 2021
I'm sure the birds have some retention pond or something where they can refocus their efforts.
Looking back a little on my drinking memories, in my perpetual OCD tendency to classify things, I find myself putting them into categories. Made myself look like an idiot in front of my friends, made myself look like an idiot in front of strangers, caused trouble at home, black outs, hallucinations, narrowly escaped getting into legal trouble, narrowly avoided causing injury or death to myself or others, set bad example for kid, prevented business from growing, list goes on.

Thanks for the Reality Recall, Vman.
Sunset last Night was a good 'un here @ 6,100' [1,860 Meters]. I 'got' to sleep in this Morning cuz MesaPup held it 'til about 4 A.M.. I did, as well, but only barely. Morning Coffee is a good time now to savor. I'm on Google Earth to suss out my next solo Trailer Boondocking Trip with MesaPup about a Month from now. Arizona around Lake Mojave well below Hoover Dam looks good, as does further on down the Colorado River on the Nevada Border. There's a bunch of abandoned, and active, Mines around the area, as well as stupendous Scenery. I've got a piece of Petrified Wood from Oatman Arizona on old Route 66. Miners' Burros are, um, quite prolific around the area. In a Google Earth exercise that includes shades of Bim watching the Creek, the Flash Flood 'Fans' of Storm runoff in low spots are quite visible from above. So, I Bookmark higher Desert spots to safely set up Trailer Camp. Cellular Coverage is a requirement to stream Music, so this digital prep is good Geek Fun.
Oatman Arizona Burros
While the Mines down there are not Coal Mines, this lil Ditty is close enough!

There’s a lot of burros MesaMan. Hopefully visitors feed them.
I was surprised when I went to Italy how many stray dogs were on the streets.
I’ve not seen that with the muppets before, great escape plan.

Greetings, all. Can’t believe that it is Wednesday already.
Another opportunity was just announced to sign up at 3:30 pm for COVID vaccines to be given this weekend. Fingers crossed.
Glad that you are feeling better, Mags. Hope that your breathing becomes less painful.
Robbie, I love Durham Cathedral. Nice photo.

This has been a very quiet Wednesday in Weekenders.
I just got back from my long walk. It was/is such a beautiful day and after about a week of gray sky and steady rain, I was so excited to see the sun and blue skies.
It was 50F, that's 10C. Very beautiful.
I walked past the local eagles' nest and I could hear the eagles chatting to each other before I could find them visually. They don't spend a lot of time at the nest when they don't have eggs or young, but the two of them were in a nearby tree sitting side by side just talking back and forth. I don't know when they lay eggs - I just found this local nest since I've been walking in the neighborhood this year. I would think they lay eggs sometime soon, though!
This is not the streaming camera nest I follow in Florida. They've been sitting on eggs for two or three weeks.
See you all tomorrow on the new thread.

It has indeed been a very quiet Wednesday in the Weekenders thread (though it's now Thursday here in the UK). I noticed there hasn't been as many posts as usual.
I've not been able to get out for a walk for the past couple of days. Yesterday (Wednesday) the ground was iced over all day. It was like a skating rink outside. I'm hoping today I can get out for a walk but the current temperature is -2c and it isn't going to get much above freezing until Sunday.
SoberLeigh, yes Durham Cathedral is beautiful. Hopefully by spring or summer it will be able to open once again.

Not sure I want to discuss this or cause controversy but wtf just happened in the US? I am a bit freaked out, not sure what is going on or why...
Appreciate this is political so no need to reply and get into trouble, I am just super worried what this means. Deep breath and serenity prayer!! x

MantaLady I just saw the news. Terrible.
Robbie, it was same here, yesterday morning. I nearly went flying taking wheelie bin out.
Leigh, fingers crossed you got booked in for the vaccine.
Saou, I hope you’re ok and everybody else too. xx
Take care, see you soon. xxxx
