Hello all - Chris from Tasmania Hello all. Just signed up as I've nearly killed myself this morning. Police and Ambulance got me and I'm very thankful. Alcohol I've used as a crutch since my Ex-Wife remarried and lied on my daughter. I'm calm at moment so wanted to introduce myself. Getting sober has been a battle since losing my beautiful girl (no I didn't drink much then) So I'm Chris and thanks for listening. |
I'm really glad that whatever you tried to do didn't work out Chris. There is life after addiction - and it's a good one:) You've found a good community and a good place to be. Welcome :) Are you feeling ok now, in a safe place and all that? D |

Welcome :) Are you feeling ok now, in a safe place and all that? D I appreciate your msg. It may be but I can't cope with life sober at all. My parents left to Melbourne Aust and I'm pretty lost. No the knife was taken by Police and went to hospital. They didn't have any beds, waited so I just went home. On valium now so settled but when it wears off I'm no good at all. |
Welcome to SR, @Chris2! I'm sorry you're going through such a hard time but I'm glad you found us here. You'll find support and understanding. |
You're not alone Chris. There's always someone around here 24/7, as well as dedicated crisis lines like Lifeline etc. My best advice is don't drink anymore - as painful as things can be sober, drinking just makes them 1000 worse and adds rgw despair on exponentially. That goes double if you're on valium. None of us are trained crisis people or anything but you can lean on us when you need that human connection :) D |

Until hospital where crying and completely lost and lady says "There are sick people here". Yeah ok then. I've just had 2 seizures but sure I'm fine |
I'm sorry the lady at the hospital was like that, Chris. |
How’s it going Chris? It’s full on summer here - is it humid down in Tassie or more temperate? D |

I don’t know the full story...sometimes ‘alcoholics’ get a bad reception from some health workers...or maybe she was just overworked and underpaid...Had a crap day of her own...who knows? It’s good the ambos were ok though. D |

Hey Chris, Steely, from Sydney! Sounds hard for you at the moment, but want you to know it doesn't have to remain this way for you. I'm glad the police and ambulance were able to help you, and that you are grateful for their help. We're here to help too. Sorry about the woman at the hospital, a lot of us have experienced similar, alcohol not recognised as an medical question. :(. Slowly I see this changing, but it still crops up amongst the judgemental. Are you still drinking, and do you have any support down there Chris? Let us know how you are going. Greetings from Sydney, Chris ~ Steely |
