Hello from NC
This was a great post, and it takes guts and courage to be honest like this. I'm proud of ya for starting the sober journey. I can relate so much to your story. It took me several tries until something similar to what you described changed within me. Go slow, 24hr pledges, and keep on truckin'. You got this. I started with a similar post and journaled my first year of sobriety here on SR. Now having 778 days (who's counting LOL) things are so much different. Stay motivated! Find tools that help keep you from drinking. Those tools come in many forms.

Welcome fellow North Carolinian! I just joined this wonderful group a few weeks ago.
First attempt at sobriety in a long life of daily drinking.
Finally counting in the weeks, will be nine weeks tomorrow.
I plan on being more active on SR. See you around, Wayno2
Looking forward to staying sober together .

Just checking in y’all. The weather is finally nice where I live. Got 5 months today!
Hasn’t been all roses and sunshine with a few unexpected triggers and tough days sprinkled in throughout, but I can say after 2-3 months things really started looking up.
Like others have said on here it truly does get better and is worth it, although moment to moment it is hard to see change and sure as hell doesn’t feel like it sometimes. Stick with it!
