Scary but no cuts or injuries
I was robbed at knifepoint on Monday afternoon.
I was working from home. I went with my neighbor's dog to the park across from my building at about three.
A young man and a young woman were walking towards me. Late teens/early twenties. He didn’t look right to me. I stopped and let them pass. They circled back behind us. He had the knife. Demanded I give him my phone and then the pass code.
It was a dagger. It takes a millionth of a second to get cut. I had to step back a couple of times when he moved towards me. Frightening. A lifetime of training may have saved my life.
It freaked me out later that night. It was bizarre. I was imaging myself as having died, of being dead. I filed a police report and was taken to the local precinct to be interviewed by a detective. I went back yesterday morning to look at a whole bunch of mug shots. Didn't recognize anyone. And I was paying attention, with one eye on the knife.
Maybe not the best year of anyone’s life.

Woah, that's scary @EndGameNYC ! I'm glad you weren't physically harmed! What did the robbers end up getting? Hopefully the cops find them. Is mace or OC spray legal where you are? If so that might be something to pick up. Again, glad to see didn't get cut!
Thank you for sharing that awful scary experience
with us and reminding us to always be on guard
when we are out and about. Evil never takes a break
and is around us taking form in different people,
places and things.
Thank God you returned home safely with more awareness
around you when you are out and about.
We never know how we will react if a situation happens
upon us. So arming ourselves with lots of knowledge,
strength and quick thinking can guard us in the future.
Maybe learning lessons on how to defend ourselves
which i'm sure folks take part in to help them in preparation
for such situation. Exercises, karate, weight lifting....
Of course when it comes to living or dying, we step away
or avoid confrontations if possible. Have a second person
with ya if you get out. Carry a whistle, mace or stick and
like I do, walk tall with confidence and dont even think
about coming near me.
I suppose with all those heavy bags of rocks, pavers and
soil i go get from the nursery, loading them up, carrying
and laying them down in my backyard and garden of paradise
keeps me strong.

What a horrible experience, I am sure you still have all kinds of emotions. I am sure you learned in your karate studies, as I did, that you learn how to attack and defend but never use your skills unless it is absolutely necessary. Your body is the greatest possession you have and it is always best to hand over replaceable valuables in order to protect yourself.
I am really sorry this happened to you.
I am sure you have done all of the necessary steps to lock down your phone at this point, you can find out how to do it online if you haven't already.

I got robbed by knifepoint in Amsterdam in my younger years. Went down the wrong alley and was surrounded by Turkish drug dealers. I happily gave what ever cash I had on me, which wasn't much at all. Then I got drunk and high at at hash Cafe. Life goes on, right?
Sorry to hear. Be grateful you have your life.
I imagine there will be some trauma, and fear in similar situations for awhile. You obviously have good situational awareness to have picked up on the lack of eye contact. Try to get back to your routine when you can so the fear does not get entrenched. Maybe at a different park. Take care of yourself!

Truly frightening, EndGame; very sorry that you experienced this but am very relieved that you are okay. Be gentle with yourself in the days and weeks to come; as you very well know, post traumatic issues are very real. I experienced them after being attacked in the women’s restroom at the University I was attending; as Steely says, it might help to talk to someone; it helped me.
Thoughts are with you.
