Congratulations to Leigh on 9 years. And to travelbug on 32 days. Each day sober is a milestone to celebrate regardless of the length of sobriety.

Good Morning Weekenders

It’s always a good feeling to wake up sober. Especially on a weekend when all I did was drink more until I passed out. So happy those days are behind me.

We haven’t had snow here in North Lincolnshire but I hear some places have had some in UK. Parts of Wales and South Yorkshire.

Just watched sky news and how the hospitals are preparing for the big vaccination program. It’ll be a few months before it comes to many of us but it’s welcome news to hear.

Our job is to keep safe until then.
See you later. xxxx

Congrats on nine years Leigh!

Going to bed late on a Friday night/early Saturday morning, but not for the reason I used to fall into bed late. So glad those days are gone...

I'm with you guys 4 weeks tomorrow, however, I am excited by this insignificant milestone compared to 9 years!

Last week there were some talk of kirsty maccoll and the great song new England. I was reading yesterday how fairytale of new York was getting banned from radio air play. So that made me think of the dad, Ewan Maccoll. He wrote so many great tracks. Alot of songs I once thought originals from other bands I sooner or later found out it was Ewan Maccoll (shoals of her ring, school days over, dirty old town...)

This is the oscar isaac version from Inside lewynn davis. https://youtu.be/NWJz_-hseJQ

Velvetee, you should be excited at 4 weeks. It a great milestone. I remember how excited I was at one week.

Andy, Krampus looks so scary.

Vinny, nice song, I like dirty old town too. I don’t think bbc radio are banning it from air play here. But I think it’s up to the presenter if they want to play it.

Velvetee, I think that the most significant milestone is getting over the hump of knowing in your heart that you are done with the whole drinking scene.

Monday is December 7, obviously eh. One of the more fateful dates in US history. Increased US involvement was inevitable, but the mechanism by which we were thrust headlong into it would solidify a deep resolve to finish what others had started. I was never really close to my wife's father as he was possibly the most quiet, mild mannered man I've ever known. He was there in the middle of it, stationed on one of the navy vessels that was hit. He was probably lucky to have survived. He talked a lot about his service on board various naval vessels, but hardly ever about the violent aspects. He never seemed to harbor longterm resentments. Perhaps there is a lesson in that. My wife is with her mom this weekend and I think they are going to an event on Monday.

I'll take Kaily's lovely snow covered hills and dogs photos over Krampus. Jeebus, andy, it's too early for terrorist images.

I got married on December 7. I've been divorced 31 years. Nuff said.

I did have a paternal uncle who dropped in by parachute into the Normandy campaign.

May we never have another World War. I try to keep my little corner peaceful as much as possible by walking away from conflicts - literally. I used to be up for a verbal sparring match with anyone who I thought might have crossed me but these days I know it's not about me.

Does it not snow very often in England? Seems like Big News.
