a different story to last time

Hello lovely SR people. It's been nearly three years since my last (brief) visit, and an incredible eight-and-a-half since my first. Every other time I came here it was with my beautiful husband by my side.
At the start of last year our little life together ended. He was 45. His death had nothing to do with addiction - he'd successfully buried his demons that first time around. But he died anyway, and I'm still here.
I quit drinking 4 days ago. That's all I can say for now.
Love to all xxx

Hello stillsleeping - I'm so glad you decided to post. I'm very sorry you lost your husband & for the painful time you've been through.
Congratulatiions for your 4 days of sobriety. How difficult it must have been to stop - but you did it.
It's good to have you back and posting - I hope it relieves some of your sadness to know others care.

Hi Stillsleeping, I'm 46 and with the same man for 25 years. All I can say is my heart goes out to you. I cannot imagine what you have been through.

I'm really glad you decided to come here and work on sobriety. We are still youngish so there's a lot of living left to do!

For me, after almost a year of sobriety, I'm on pretty solid ground now and I'm grateful to be sober. Early days can be difficult, but so so worth the effort.

Sending peaceful vibes your way
