7 whole days

I have been sober for 7 DAYS!! This is the longest in years. From drinking anywhere from 10 to a case of beer a night, to now, I haven't been proud of myself in a really long time. No matter what my success has been, no matter what any one would say about me, no matter the accomplishment. I was never proud because I knew that I had this secret. I lied about an enormous part of my life. I no longer have to hide, I no longer have to lie. I can step into the light and truly be what others think I am! Shout out to any one on day 1, 2, 3 or 7055! I feel like we all uplift each other into that light and can do great things!

I still feel anxious most of the day, but I feel like that is my own mind saying you can't do this or you're only on day 7, things could still happen, BUT I won't let that sway me.

Also, I've lost 13 pounds, which (I am very overweight) is just a fantastic bonus!!

THANK YOU ALL. I haven't posted because of the covid crisis in the hospitals and schools where I live and big changes. I know that I couldn't have handled what I have had to if I was worried about where my next drink was coming from.

Congrats on the first of many sober weeks! Keep going, it gets better. Might be a bit of a bumpy ride at first, but it does get better, I promise.

Well done, first week is the worst. I recommend a sobriety network in addition to this forum, e.g, AA, Lifering or Smart Recovery. All have online meetings.

You have done something to truly be proud of! I am very happy for you and know how hard it is. Very proud of you, NL!
Keep moving forward. One day at a time. Keep posting and sharing. I look forward to seeing your journey.

I remember thinking how I was living a lie.

Looking into the eyes of trusting folks that were counting on me, and me drunk.

Glad those days are behind me forever.

This place educated me and saved my life.

I just had to want to quit, after that SR was my tool.

No mystery, just suffering and time.

Thanks.
