Back again...
Hi Suzie I am right there with you day 7 today. For the at least millionth time for me. I pulled up a meeting schedule last night. I used to go to AA quite a bit years ago. It helped me a lot so I think I may go back soon.
I crave all the time still. But, I have come so far. I refuse to allow the addiction to get me again.
I think my saving grace was long lasting agoraphobia. It is a long story, but until the hell of getting clean hurt bad enough, I could not do it.
The brain damage is permanent. It got worse and worse with each relapse. The major suffering of getting clean ramped up for about 1 year.
Each Friday, Sunday Football, Xmas, New Year, happy, sad, bored etc etc.
My body wants the fix. The escape.
It is all about endorphins, dopamine, adrenaline, and melatonin.
Once I got used to the level my body could produce naturally, my anxiety settled down. My insanity dissipated.
Suffering and time.
Thanks for the therapy.

This go around I DID implement AA into my life and I very grateful for it.
AA zoom meetings are virtually everywhere. It can be just as simple as logging in with a username. It doesn't have to be your real name. You have the option to show your face or not. You can simply sit and listen and decide if AA is for you or not. Take your time and allow it to be what it is. There is no pressure.

^^^ I"ll second Steely''s post.
Drum up that courage to walk inside and say Hi to someone.
I find that simply listening to the stories and advice of others is quite therapeutic.
After attending a meeting or two, you'll fit right in...
