Hi Kostgard, Welcome aboard I'm addicted to the nicotine spray. I'm planning to quit after I have one year sober from alcohol in Jan 2021. The first thing I'm going to do is find a replacement. The brand Listerine carries a breath spray that feels very similar. I'm also going to focus on deep breathing as I do with drinking...it really helps. I wish I could offer more but I'm in the same boat as you. Nicotine is a very powerful addiction.

I quit smoking 26 years ago and I weaned way down at the end.

Is it possible for you to start weaning off? Just use less of it? Can you replace some of the times you use it with regular gum? Like if you use it 20 times a day, try replacing 10 of those times with regular gum. Next week, replace 15 of the nicotine gums with regular gum. Continue weaning down. I know for me a lot of the nicotine "addiction" was the habit of doing it to cope with outside stressors, or to relax etc.

Thanks for the reply everyone ,
Sorry for the delay in replying . I have tried to quit the nicotine gums before but then i cant find any other thing to replace it .
I don't drink much , i don't smoke at all . I used to smoke , but i quit an year ago with the help of these gums .
Now i am addicted to these gums .
These gums have become like an energy drink to me .
It makes me alive at work .
Otherwise work is really boring .

Maybe i should take less of these gums daily and see how that is going to work .
I eat 9 gums a day , one pack of gum have 9 gums and it costs 1 dollar .

I haven't started really trying to quit , but i will soon .

I wouldn't put it off for too long. Best to stop now than later?

I was able to kick my nicotine addiction using the patch. I only ended up needing the first stage of patches, but they make them in various strengths so that you can slowly taper down the nicotine levels. It helps curb any cravings. I also started taking vitamins to help promote healthy lungs since I was a smoker, not a chewer. It took about 2 months to go from smoking to nicotine free and I have never had a relapse.

Other things that helped me were hypnosis, Allan Carr's books and looking up the various diseases and cancers that nicotine products can cause.

I believe Allan Carr's book on quitting smoking is available for free with a google search. It won't apply exactly to your problem since you are chewing nicotine, but his philosophy on why we use it and why it is bad for us will still ring true.

Good luck! Nicotine is an insidious drug. It doesn't make us act crazy, but it is soooo difficult to give it up.
