Welcome and I am in the same boat (or bottle)

Hi Paul,

Welcome! I have just joined as well and am in the "cutting down" attempting phase before I get my prescription to help me. Liver enzyme results taken this week were... Worse than hoped for, but not unexpected. I made it 117 days last year and levels evened out, so I'm hopeful this next time will be even more successful. The problem is, for myself, and I assume others, is that the stress of an upcoming "quit day" makes me drink even more. I'm glad I found here, as no one knows what I'm going through (husband, friends, family). I am here for you. We can do this. We have to do this.

Hi Katspooks

It must be very tough going through this without the support of family and friends

Please don't let the booze get you to the point where there are few friends and your family is begging you to quit before you die in front of them. That was my story. You don't have to go down that far.

Hi all.
I am really pleased I am on this site, and have access to all the incredible opinions available here. Just wanted to tell you that thanks to all the great insight everyone has offered I have stayed sober since joining. On the downside the happiness I am feeling usually leads to mania and that generally takes me right back to drinking. So fingers crossed.

I would not call you a hypocrite. You are trying to quit drinking so good for you for trying. Coming to this board ALOT everyday helped me a ton. Reading helped me get into the proper mind frame to quit. Welcome and please stick around and post alot. Also, put down the drink. Make a serious attempt once you get ready, but get ready quickly and do it. Post here before you pick up a drink. It can help deter you. Best of luck to you. I look forward to seeing you quit.

Paul I'm glad you're doing well. I'm sorry you have to deal with mania, but, like Dee, I was afraid of happiness, too.

Hi Paul, Welcome back, has something changed, you sound like you are really fed up and want to stop. This is the time to do it.

Welcome back Paul

I guess the obvious question is what are you doing to 'not drink' and do you think it's enough?
