Great to hear man. Keep it going!

With staying sober today, play the tape forward, tomorrow morning - do you want to wake up feeling great about another sober or wake up hung over and mad at yourself? I know which one I would choose!

Even if today is "itchy" you still don't have to drink.

Stuff is gonna come up and drinking is the go-to.

Correction. WAS the go-to.

I don't drink any more.

Day 8: Made it through the first weekend! Today was easier than yesterday. But no where near as hard as I expected earlier in the last week. Stayed busy and had the forum to lean on. Even survived beer commercials on TV during football! LOL

Have a good week y’all, very thankful for y’all and the forum!!

This made me laugh a bit. I quit drinking a bit over two years ago and seeing glasses of wine on TV still get me a bit . . . . unfortunately I can imagine picking up in a thoughtless moment . . . sigh . . . vigilence.

I am pretty stubborn! LoL

And yes, mornings have been great!

Day 9: Pretty simple Monday. Not drinking as much soda today as well! Still reaching out to sober friends I know more so than loggin in to A.A. lately. Just taking things a day at a time but more optimistic each day!

Cowboys fan eh? Cool. I remember watching Roger staubac vs Terry Bradshaw like it was last season.

More than the beer commercials, the constant reference to drinking in music has affected me more I think. Doesn't bother me much anymore though.

As a Redskins fan I take little joy in our win against your Cowboys. Why? Because there was a time when a Redskins vs Cowboys game really meant something to the NFL. Today both our teams just... suck.

But getting back to the topic at hand. You did not drink to drown the sorrow of loss and I did not drink to celebrate victory. We both won.

LOL I steered clear! I have had to change my music for sure. I’m jamming to 90’s rock currently as my outlaw country is not going to help me currently!

Keep going John! Beer was also my favorite drink, but that's over now! You can do it!

Weekends were hard, but now, it gets easier as time goes by.

Be focused, get busy, that's what has been working for me.

In a thread about beer drinking and texas football, brisket deserves some sort of mention. Used to do some work around Huntsville and found a bbq place that had excellent brisket. There are a couple of places in north Florida that have great brisket now. Sunday, took the family out in the boat where we anchored and swam near probably a hundred people, most of whom were drinking, and stopped at a little bbq joint for a brisket sandwich with coleslaw, where I had a clear line of site on the beer tap. All of that and I didn't even really think about drinking a beer. One year ago, not drinking beer would have been unfathomable.

All of that to just tell you that if you stay the course a day at a time, very soon your whole mentality regarding beer drinking will be completely different.

bbq joints are the best!! We don’t go out much right now with covid and such so I’m not having to deal with bars yet. But sure have notice when beer goes on sale at the grocery store’s main entrance! Lol

Day 10 (yesterday) parenting stress after work had me wanting to jump off the sober wagon but I made it!

Day 11: Last night was on my mind a lot and cravings continued pretty hard today. One day at a time.. I’ve been drinking coffee in the evenings and it seems to curb the crave better than soda etc.. I’m gonna make it! Too stubborn to quit quitting now! Hahaha

Good job making it to day 11!

In those first 2 to 4 weeks, the impulse to stop at the beer cave on the way home were pretty rough for me. I stopped at McDonald's for a large tea instead and it did the trick.
