Doing well-
Hey Gang. I have not posted in a while. I got sober for about a year back in 2009.
Then I Fell right into the: “I’m a little different, I went a year, I can drink a few beers on vacation”. That turned onto 8 years of drinking, hiding, lying, risking, etc.
I went back to treatment in June 2018 and haven’t looked back. Very involved in my local AA and have graduated from AA being not just a way to stay sober- but a way to live.
It hasn’t always been easy, but I’m 28 months sober now and things couldn’t be better.
I come on here and read and stay plugged in. Just very grateful. Thanks.

It's good to hear things couldn't be better. Congrats.
Its reminders like this that I need,I can't drink on vacation or ever because I'm confident I will rapidly fall down that hole again. It's not worth it for that half hour buzz

It was a huge relief to just recognize that I am just a regular garden variety alcoholic. I can t drink responsibly, so I cannot drink. Thinking I was somehow different or could handle it just kn vacation/ holidays, etc. is a false narrative for me and a relief to just realize that.
step 1! It’s a biggie and critical to my program.

Congrats.
By any means. Plugged in works for me too.
If it wasn't for folks like you reminding me that I need to stay with like minded, I would have relapsed over and over again.
We don't believe the hype around here. Around here, booze is poison.
Addict for life.
Thanks.

Thanks for hopping in here. People with long term sobriety have so much to offer the recovering community. Your story is yet another great reminder that our sobriety and recovery is something to guard and something to work on for the rest of our healthy days.
