3 Year's
I just wanted to pop in here to let you know that YOU can RECOVER! You can be SOBER!
You have to make the choice to do just that, every single day.
Find something that works for you:
Here
AA
NA
Spirituality-Reiki, healing, meditation, yoga, etc
GOD- Church, Celebrate Recovery
A support system
Someone you can call when life gets hard
Remove the drinking friends from your life, for a short time or forever.
Dump out all the booze in your home
Get rid of ALL the TOXIC people in your life, they are serving you no good purpose
Read books- Codependent no more, waking the tiger, GRIT, anything on healing and growth, etc..
Therapy
Stop with the excuses.
Stop the cycle
You obviously are here for a reason, now get to work! The sooner that happens, the sooner you are able to reap the rewards of sobriety!
Sober is just how I live my life. I know that if I would stoop to the level of pure stupidity and grab a drink I am risking my entire life. My job, my children, my husband, my home, etc.. The list is endless, all the way to my life and people need me to be here for them. I am no longer the selfish drunk that I once was.
My life is not perfect, never will be.
I still get mad
I still yell
I still have bad days
But guess what? I remember everything that I have done or said and I am quicker to apologize and face my crap than to just drink it away until another day.
I have good days
I sometimes will have a thought about alcohol and consuming it but I do not give in to it.
I have kicked so many people out of my life that were toxic. Living drama free is amazing!
My life is a rollercoaster, but it is more manageable now than when I was drinking.
Hae blessed day,
DC

Thanks for sharing.
Yours is the type of story which clearly demonstrates to our newly sober friends that life does get better...the longer one commits to abstinence.
Everything will eventually fall into place.
Well done, indeed.
