Congratulations on 3 days Summer! The early days are the hardest but it will get easier in time. Btw you are not alone with your pizza base episode. When drunk I once ate a box of laxatives thinking they were sweets (candy), that's not an experience I want to repeat.

Summer - I tend to be dozy too where cooking's concerned. My first roasted turkey was cooked with the little bag of giblets still in it. We wondered what the melted plastic smell was. So many disasters over the years.
Congrats on your 3 days! I'm glad you're upbeat & optimistic. You're doing this.

I once cooked a frozen pizza with the cardboard circle still underneath. I had been drinking and was so ashamed when my kids came into the kitchen to get supper and I realized what I'd done.

And as for leaving the bag of giblets in the turkey, I know people who've done that! I think the only reason it never happened to me is because I cook them up for the dog.

Nearly a week.

That'll be tomorrow and I must admit it can't come soon enough . I think the first five days lulled me into a false sense of security as today has been tough . Main thing is I've got through the weekend and hopefully it'll be easier during the week . Psychologically getting that 1st week milestone will hopefully help .
My total admiration to people who not only manage to kick this but do so whilst experiencing withdrawal symptoms . Thankfully , I haven't got those so must count my blessings .
Hopefully , this is a bit of a blip and my next post will be a bit more of an upbeat one .
Best wishes .

Well done on the first week Summer76. I noticed you had a few days between posts. Come on here and post everyday. Post when you're having a good day; post when you're struggling. Just make it part of your day. It really helps.

Double Digits

It's been a game of two halves . Was ahead at half time but AV United came back into it in the 2nd half but I managed to keep a clean sheet . I didn't let one in . In other words , today is my 10th day without a drink.
What's more , I'm feeling on top of it again although going by the last few days I know this can change . I think I've heard if you do something for 39 days it'll become a habit . So all I have to do is go through the whole of October and should be ok ... er , yeah right and er, ... yeah right !

Not too good today .

Thank you for your replies , Hevyn , Dee74 , Erica375 , Robbie64 et al .
I hope everyone is keeping healthy and happy .
Had a stomach ache for the last 3 days and because of my nature I'm thinking the worst . Don't recall having one before like this but surely it can't be withdrawal symptoms after 12 days ?!? It's eased up a bit today but still in bed which is driving me nuts ; ( yeah , because otherwise , about this time on a rainy Saturday afternoon , I'd either be climbing Ben Nevis , canoeing down the Thames or hang gliding off the White Cliffs of Dover ... not ) .
Don't know if it's this or the dreaded weekend but am finding it a struggle today not to hobble down the road to the grocers .
I'm sure I can make it to Monday , when hopefully it'll be a bit easier again but it certainly ain't that now .
Was thinking earlier , ( but I'm lying down and taken a couple of headache tablets , so I'm ok 😀 ) , of maybe working in a charity shop on Saturday's as I obviously find it more difficult at the weekend . I could help them out and at the same time they'll be helping me out ! Think I'll make enquires once I'm a bit better . Either that or actually climb Ben Nevis !

By all means see yr doctor if you are worried but I felt pretty bad for the first month - I'd drank hard for decades and all day everyday for a few years before I quit?

Two Weeks !

Just a short update to say I'm pleased to have made two weeks today . Been a couple of times that I thought things may go pear shaped but it hasn't been too bad considering .
Now to complete the rest of Stoptober .
Best Wishes .

Three Weeks

Found it tough going yesterday though . Big mistake started carrying my wallet around again as I passed the cheap booze shop yesterday and nearly succumbed.
The fact that I'm sleeping better is a good incentive for me.
Had to take a day off today. Didn't want to as don't want to have time on my hands but was forced to.
Feeling ok at the moment but will be pleased when day is done .
