Back Again - Different Problems

Hi there.

Nice to be back... Although I would rather not have to be.

I stopped alcohol for just over 8 years. I was bad with it. After a year or so on this site I managed to quit.

Then my wife decided our marriage was over. After moving out I tried alcohol again briefly. But have stopped again with no cravings. A very very lucky guy and not something I would recommend to others.

That's not the problem. I began using codeine a while ago. I'm not sure how long. Over a year and long enough to become addicted.

I'm at the stage where I really want to give this up but I am finding it really difficult.

I didn't do well with AA. Despite being a regular member for 12 years on and off, I never managed more than a month or two.

For me it was this site that got me started and begun on my longest period of not drinking.

I'm hoping I can find the same mindset again but this time apply it towards my codeine issues.

Hi AdoHound

You posted in our Gratitude forum so I moved your post here - even tho you may not think of yourself as a newcomer, you'll get a lot of response here.

I'm sorry to hear about your marriage.

I have no experience with codeine addiction - are you in a part of the world where you can buy it over the counter? That makes it more difficult, but if you've quit alcohol, you can quit this too

Hi,

I also have no experience with Codeine. That said, I agree with Dee. If you can stop drinking - you can stop using. People stop abusing drugs every day.

Welcome back! I have no experience with codeine either but I have faith that the support here can help you get clean from it.

Hi, have you also checked down the forum a bit? There is a forum related to this type of drug I am pretty sure though I don't think there is alot of traffic there.
