Really want to drink

I’m really really really craving to drink today. It’s a really challenging day. My true test is not stopping at the gas station right after work for some miniatures.

Urges last about 20 minutes max. Get something to eat. You'll feel better. Stay strong. Don't drink.

Distract yourself, Eat something filling. Remember why you stopped drinking. I hope you don't give in.

I didn’t give in! Thank you for the advice! I took a turn into Target for a little distraction and got some takeout from my favorite restaurant.

Now that I’m finally able to relax I realize how disappointed in myself I would have been if I caved. I don’t want to drink!

Your actions - not your compulsions - today proved to you just how powerful you really are. It's pretty intense.
High Five!!

Super proud of you! Takes a lot but the feeling of not caving is wonderful. You CAN do this, it is all centered in your mind.

Keep it going!

Nic.

So happy you didn't give in! Each time you resist temptation, you get a little stronger.

Good call. If you eat loads when you’re craving it’ll kill your alcohol cravings. Ice cream is particularly good.

Thank you all for the support!

I’m so thankful I didn’t drink last night. I woke up hangover free! It’s amazing how much pain I
put my body through just to have a drink. If I drank I would have been very moody, guilty, and have a headache. Not the most ideal way to wake up. Instead I have a clear head and I feel good.

If I get any little niggles of "wanting" or"needing" a drink. I always play the tape forward

I have loads of tapes from the past. The end result was usually a blackout, following that a significant hangover and a desire to drink again in the morning put there by the first drink I decided (yep I decided to take it) the previous night

Fleeting thoughts is all they are. I read somewhere that you get thousands and thousands of thoughts every day. Up to us which ones we're gonna act upon eh

Glad the drink wasn't one for you!

Stewy 👍

Good job! This is what we all say to each other! Post here before drinking. You did and look at the outcome! Now you will be stronger too.
