I found meetings helpful. It was a substitute for my usual nightly drinking, and filled that hole quite nicely. An hour a night seemed to have an immediate effect, and after the meeting a big group would get together for coffee. We also had parties during the holidays that were heavily attended, camping trips, and I made some good friends. Imagine spending New Years Eve with a bunch of sober friends. It was by far our most important party of the year. It was way more fun than drinking.

3-7/ day is a lot!! That adds up each week and month.
coming here is a good start for sure. Would highly recommend seeing a doctor as well, but AA, even the online sessions, I think would really help you
