Moderation? I appreciate a good moderation discussion. Here's the best I have seen on the topic:

i get it, Tetrax.
i had to keep going back to experimenting too, though not with what i’d call moderation as much as with trying for control. and i did that until i understood and knew with certainty that my drinking would never be different.
no need for experiments any more.
rock solid no doubt same results.
so....what conclusions are your experiments leading to? anything new that you didn’t know for sure already?

Tried to drink in "moderation" from 2010-now. It doesn't work for me. It's a nightmare merry-go-round where I think I am handling it just fine, then before I know it i'm drinking myself to death again. A couple of beers every couple of days becomes a whole box every night. A bottle of wine at the weekend becomes two bottles of spirits (and going out drinking on top of that) etc etc.
Sober is better. I'm not tricking you or saying it because i'm brainwashed...it really is better. Everything is easier and you see the positive side of everything.
Hope you join us soon.

I am not exactly sure when it started, maybe at 6 months clean, but I wake up almost every day with a natural dopamine hang over.
if I get about 6 hours of sleep it really kicks in.
No headaches, but I am groggy and out of it for about 20 minutes.
i could never go back to drinking again because don't want to lose this.
The nature of my last recovery was slow and painful, I am terrified to relapse. I would be lieing to say otherwise.
Booze scares me to death now. That secret is between us here at sr.
That may be a key to success, a healthy fear of booze.
I have been losing a few pounds lately and it feels like there are booze toxins stored in my fat.
Lately, I am experiencing similar feelings of anxiety etc. that I had in my first few days and weeks clean.
Relapsing now would be like a one way ticket to the psych ward.
Thanks.

Hey Tetrax,
I followed your experiences closely as they resonated with me, but I didn't feel like I had any decent advice to offer as an alcoholic with low self-esteem.
You say you might have to re-join us - why is that? Is moderation not working for you?

Fourteen months is fantastic though, and although you've slipped, it speaks volumes that you're back here posting.
p.s. Love the BoJack display pic!
