Day four. It's Sunday afternoon and I'm working on my recovery plan. I want it to be detailed, especially the part where I outline the choices I have if I get cravings. It is truly amazing to see how many wonderful things I can fill my life with. There is no reason for me to drink today, instead I am shopping for wedding dresses. Only two months to go!

Have a happy, sober day!

Hey Liz, congrats on day 4. It keeps getting better Keep working on the plan! One idea that helps me is to make a list of the short term & long term benefits of not drinking and keep adding to it as you think of new items. My list is getting very long, yours will too

You can do this! Keep coming to SR for support. It's a big step admitting that we are alcoholics, not an easy task. Like you, I would often just say to myself that I had a drinking problem, it sounded better than being an alcoholic. I've been sober for 6+ months now and have started coming to SR every day and it's a great help. I feel inspired knowing I'm not alone in this battle. We WILL win this battle. Hugs.

Feeling a bit restless tonight, so I decided to do some baking. Or, non-baking, to be precise. Made a low carb no bake cheesecake, and it's resting in the fridge now. It won't set until late this evening, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to taste it.

Great idea to get busy doing something. The anxious/restless feeling is to be expected - but it will fade. Congrats on your sober time, Liz. Proud of you.

Thanks, Hevyn. I even watched a silly movie with the kiddos, and by 11pm I was tired and ready for bed. You're right, keeping busy is good.

Day 5. Didn't sleep well, but I don't care. I feel so good about the choices I've made the past five days and I know the sleep thing is only temporary. Got up early to have coffee with my partner before she left for work, and now I'm having the place to myself for a little bit longer before the kids get up. Waiting for the doctor to call about testing my youngest for covid-19, she's not feeling well.

And there's the call...drive in testing in 20 minutes. See ya!

Day 6. The kiddo took the test yesterday and I'm anxiously awaiting the results. If it is positive (which I doubt), I have to rethink a few things. She's feeling better today, good thing. Don't like it when the kids are sick.
Day 4 of the keto diet and I can feel the energy coming back. Had a sinful breakfast/lunch, pork chops with salad, and am making panfried cod with cauliflower mash and bacon for dinner. Can't complain!

I will not drink today.

Yes, there are lots and lots of baby steps to achieve your goal. It's seldom done all in one huge quantum leap.

It was negative, Dee. Phew! Her older sister has the same symptoms, and I am not sure what to do. Test or not?

I'm on day 7 now, and this sober period has given me so much. I've had no withdrawal symptoms, just some difficulties sleeping, and I feel at peace with myself. My partner is so supportive, and my kids are so happy that I'm not drinking.

On Tuesday I'm going back to college!
