Well, Bim, he's still drinking. Less than before, I think, but I'm not with him all the time. We talk about it quite a bit. He has said he knows he will have to quit sometime, that he knows it's an issue. That'll have to be his decision. He's still not quite convinced life can still be fun and interesting without it. I understand that feeling. I tell him I just hope he doesn't wait until something very very bad happens. It's all I can do. Tell him I care about him and that I want the best for him, and that I'll be here to help if/when he does it. He does stop for 2-3 months every January. And hangs it up for several weeks at a time at other times. He says one of these times it will be permanent.

Well done, SirFHaddock!

Wonderful opening post, once again, Mags. Thank you so much for our weekly inspiration. You Rock, indeed.

Mags, your lunch out sounded so appealing. One day . . . .

Have a fantastic time, MLD; a little cabin on the lake sounds dreamy. And what a pretty island. The setting of On Golden Pond comes to mind - what a great movie. Your man-friend is lucky to have you, MLD, in his life and corner.

Nice shot of that kite, Willow. Wouldn’t it be exhilarating to be able to take off and soar like those majestic birds.

Bi, I am going to try and find a kite like the one you posted. The grands would have quite the time with that on the beach. Hmmmm, inflation might be an issue but still!

Have a lovely day, all.

Jack Russell's are the best Cityboy!

MLD that Island looks so beautiful. I would love to go somewhere like that. I rarely get out of my Borough!

Might go kite flying with Bim one day.

Wow my photography skills are coming along nicely.

I have a kite! One of those big stunt kites. Well, big is relative - it's probably 8-10 feet across. It's so fun to fly.

Is that a young Osprey, or do you know what type bird that is? Hm, doesn't look like any bird I've seen. Must go research!

**edit, it looks like a Black Kite, we don't have those here.

Bim, That’s a great kite! I love to see kites, they’re a bit like hot air balloons without the people.

Marty, Madeleine Island looks fabulous, a little piece of heaven.

Kaily, I love those kites too , great pic.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m going out for another meal soon. From shielding for about 14 weeks to two meals out in a week. . Taking care to cover all aspects of safety and pretend everyone or anyone has the virus. (That’s what I hear on tv!) Though hoping for any empty restaurant.

You are certainly making up for lost time Mags. Enjoy, and have some chocolate fudge cake for me.

That red kite, or black kite, is beautiful. It looks similar to our kestrels but they are just little guys.

I keep a kite in the boat for when we are sandbarring or whatever but it's just a cheap one like you would get at Walmart for $2.99. No dragon or giant whale kite.

Kestrels are awesome. They hover! Kestrels have that black eye stripe, though, like football players.

Mags, you've never worked in a restaurant, have you?

Kailey, what a spectacular photo.

Midnight, I am up to 17/15/13 rep with the upper body weights exercise. Will try 18/16/14 rep routine tomorrow. Thanks for this challenge!

Hi, weekenders!

Thank you for another awesome thread, Mags.

I love everyone's fitness and sobriety achievements!

Gotta run to the gym, so will post more later.

And for now it's my 4%. I am posting this before the workout so that I have zero chances to chicken out)

After my back workout I am doing 6 bouts of this HIIT exercise.

It's weird, I can't find youtube button here.

So, here's the link

See you)

Great OP Mags, Sober Muscles in the brain indeed. And with Midnight helping out with sober muscles in the body....double win!

Some Red Kite have been seen near where I live, for the first time in 40 years....apparently it's because of the drop in overhead plane pollution. It's only a temporary reprieve I guess. I love our Blue Planet, and don't want to get political, but our fellow, non-human, inhabitants deserve a life, too.

thanks for this post. I have 3 days off right now so I'll be fighting temptation this weekend. I work Sunday so by Saturday I'll be in the clear...i won't drink if I work the next day.

Thank you SoberLeigh 😀. I'd love to post more often in this thread, but it's so fast moving, I'd find it hard to keep up and worry that I missed someone out!

Thanks for the thread mags
enjoy the trip MLD. I once lived in the Michigan UP and it was so hot we went to the beach at Lake Superior only to turn around once we got there cause it was too cold! Back to town ten miles and was over 100f.

in for the weekend here and that helps me keep track of the days. Should find out soon if I have a job again at the school district. Nobody knows nothing now.
good sober fun to all!
