6 Months and a bit more - Just being grateful

Hi everyone!

I don't post often. I did post a lot to complain or just when I had a complete meltdown following a weekend binge.

However, I think it is also healthy and part of the recovery to be grateful for the accomplishments.

Around one week ago I hit the 6 months mark. I really never thought I would get to that milestone.

Am I still struggling? For sure. I have OCD, General Anxiety Disorder and Depression (This last one not at the moment, thank God).

BUT now my problems are not driven by alcohol. For the first time in my life, I was able to afford my own furniture (my room looks incredible :p), I am helping my parents back home with some money, and guess what? I have been able to talk to girls without being intoxicated. Apparently, I am quite an interesting person without alcohol in my veins!

For those starting the "Fear of Missing Out", you should be. What you are missing by being sober it's a great deal! I have been so socially busy lately, and when I drank, actually, I never was.

So things are pretty damn good despite having the emotional stability of a chihuahua in a swimming pool!

Stay safe all!

Hey Hope,

All sounds great! Sorry you're still struggling with the mental stuff, but hopefully it continues to improve with more time. 6 months is tricky as hell from my experience, but you're doing it.

Well done and congrats.

Stay vigilant.

Congrats! I also just past the six month mark. I think a lot of us have underlying mental health issues (I know I do).

But I feel the same as you, things are coming together. It IS possible to find joy without alcohol...actually, it's a 100 x better!

Now, give yourself some time, all your struggles will improve with your new stability and self-confidence.

Congratulations and thanks for the inspiration. I have depression and anxiety too. I am finding like you alcohol only makes those things worse, and positive things happen when we stay sober. Keep it up and take care x

Congratulations Hope!

This is such a great post. It's totally realistic about life and the fact that challenges don't magically disappear with sobriety but full of positivity that life is great regardless.

And the strong green shoots of a new life, showing through ...

A 6 month post that captures sobriety perfectly: realistic perspectives, positivity, new foundations.
