There are many paths up the mountain, the main thing when we share our own paths is just to do it with the genuine intention to help each other up.
When I sobered up, I had my local AA number written down just in case, but I never came to needing AA. Over time, I've read the BB and I like some of AA's philosophies and methods.
I don't get the sense you are criticising AA in any event, you're just sharing your experience. There's so much to celebrate in your post. Congratulations are clearly in order as you come up to your anniversary!
