This Place

I got really emotional last night, when I realised how much this place means to me now and the debt of gratitude I have to everyone here.

I didn't 'get it' before. The way everyone talked about SR and I came and went with really being a part of things. I get it now! We help each other change our lives....I think that is the most profoundly important thing one person can do for another, and we are doing it as a community.

Thank you everyone.

Very true Gabe. This is an amazing place but it is only amazing because of the people that make it that way!

Yeah SR is a very special community. It’s been one of my main recovery tools and continues to be so.

SR saved my life. It is one of my top 5 recovery tools. I'm growing more confident that I will live a sober life from now on. But in the early days, I don't know what I would have done without the community here on SR. Dee and Anna and so many of you helped me work this thing out. I couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for expressing the gratitude so many of should express more often Gabe.

I don't know where I'd be right now without SR. When I was an active drinker, I "knew" what I needed to do on an intellectual level but could never get there...until I reached out to SR. When I step back and look at my situation now, I feel such relief, like I escaped a house fire.

Your post was beautiful Gabe. Made me emotional, too.

People sharing on a deep and personal level not found in real life. Well, not often, unless we are really lucky.

Thank you, you "sappy git". Wish there were more of you.

Being a sappy git is a high calling!!! I agree with you and think the reason for our existence on this planet is to learn to help each other, which heals us in the process. :~)

SR is in the process of saving my life...don't get me wrong, I'm putting the hard work in, going through therapy, exercising, eating ok -

but without the hope and support form this site there is no chance I'd be 134 days sober right now.

Thanks to the admin and everyone else, it really does mean so much to me

You're not at all a sappy git! It was a heartfelt post and I totally agree. This place helps so much for people who wrestle with addiction. We all get it, we all care and we all want the best for everyone!

WOW - I am so glad I wrote this post....

What a lot amazing replies and thank you everyone for the kind words too. It'sIt's quite a magical thing isn't it? To be part of something that really matters to so many of us.

What I love personally is that, as my confidence grows, I feel more and more able to contribute and help other folks too. It creates a bit of positve energy and self-esteem, which we really need after all the shame and guilt we wade through......And we all deserve that, this is hard to do.

Love to everyone and thanks for all your thoughts today
